Perfect video.. I was just asking around the internet about the Vertical mode on the RS pro like literally for 4 days straight now. Then Boom! I found your video. Very good video from the topic that is really on everybodys mind but solutions vary a lot. I'm working with vertical video's daily but sometimes I also need to product 16:9 videos too. My most common gear for this is Canon R6 with 15-35mm f/2.8 + DJI RSC2 gimbal with sidehandels and Raveneye. I have to options for doing vertical videos. 1. Option: Mounting the camera with smallrig rigcage verticalle (HDMI down) to gimbal and balance it. Then mount my Röde Videomicpro+ to left sidehandel and plug it to camera or use external lav mic or boom mic dependin on the scene. This has been pretty solid way to do everything fast. 2. Option: Mount camera horizontally to gimbal with raveneye on the bottom. Balance it. Unlock gimbal from the middle and bend it front 90 degrees. Lock it. Take the Tripod from the bottom of the gimbal to opened middle as a "tophandel" and screw it tight. Mount you mobile phone to left sidehandel and use it as a screen with ravenye. Mount Röde videomicpro+ to right sidehangel and plug it in. Start gimbal and turn portrait mode on. Keep hands on sidehandels or in tophandel. Use focus motor with your left thumb smoothly. Soon gonna be updating to R5C and it should teoretically work same way, just need to rig external battery somewhere in the sidehandels.
@Campbell_jam Жыл бұрын
Panasonic already do this but I'd love it if @canonaustralia had a firware update that gave the R5C the Option of Open gate. This would use more of the sensor and give you more options when it comes to re-framing.

For vertical, is there a setting to auto rotate orientation when opening it in post? I could do it on my R6 but the R5C I couldn't find that setting. I'm able to rotate the OSD but opening it in post it never auto rotate its orientation. I could always rotate it 90 degree in post but its an extra step :(

Just a question is the RS 3 work good wir the R5C ? I see only recommendation for the Pro. Which lenses you can use wit RS3. I plan 24-105 and 16-35 with EF adapter. Maybe RF 24-105. Thanks
@johannesdoerr Жыл бұрын
I cannot really answer that because I only have the RS2. I would go with the RS3 Pro because I have struggled long enough with a too-small gimbal (the Ronin SC), and now with the RS2, I enjoy knowing that I can put almost anything on the gimbal (microphones, matte box, etc.)

I've been looking for solutions for this too, it seems like vertical video will be the market leader someday. I'm going to try RS3 with vertical mount, the alternative was to get a BGH1 and mount it sideways, but I have no way to test that before spending $2K on the BGH1 camera body...

How did you mount the camera? Clockwise or counter-clockwise? Maybe it only works in counter-clockwise position.
@itss10522 жыл бұрын
@@johannesdoerr 😮!! Camera grip down for cables access, that makes it clockwise then. I probably need a L bracket or the dji vertical mount to make it easier to try counter clockwise and access wires then. The RS3 does seem going the opposite direction for what I have right now. Thanks, that give me more options to test the tracking out.

@johannesdoerr Жыл бұрын
The only thing that does NOT work with RS2 and R5C is controlling things like ISO or focus through the gimbal. Only start/stop recording works. For me not a big deal. Balancing the camera with that lens should be no problem. You really have to device if you want to dive into the cinema OS world with the R5C, or if you'd rather stay in the photo world with video mode. You can watch my R5C film rig video to see a comparison with my previous RP (obviously, that's not an R5, but many differences to the R5C also apply to the R5). I hope that helps!

Cannot say for sure, but as far as I know, the RS2 is a similar size as the RS3 (and by that would work with the R5C), and the RS3 Pro is bigger. I recommend Parker Walbeck’s Video about the RS3, he does a size comparison I think.
