I had a couple failures this year so far, a dryer motor and a AC compressor. We knew they were going but I bet this would have told much sooner the extra current draw was occurring. Thanks for the multi year review.

You're welcome, most things work great when they're shiny and new, nice to know what holds up.

I have PG&E ( my electric utility company) here in California...unfortunately. My 12 year old home has experienced over 30 power outages since I purchased it. I have to keep a generator on standby. My current generator wattage is insufficient, and I'm considering the Sense device to give me a more detailed analysis of my power usage and help when deciding on my new generator wattage size.

I'm still happy I got it, if you want power information I think you'd enjoy what you get. I wish the learning algorithm was faster but that's about the only change I'd like to see.

How long did it take to identify all your devices?

Most showed up in about a year.

I've found it fun to have. But our power has always been on the rather low end, so I don't think it will pay for itself. But it's certainly been nice to see the information. Definitely takes a while to sort out devices. I'm always disappointed when it finds a device, then later it loses it again because the device has changed a bit somehow so the power looks different. I do wish I could tell it devices. Like turning something on and off, and then going into the app and indicating what the device is that corresponded to that usually spike. Really unfortunate it can't do that. For interest sake, we've had ours for 2 years now.

At our last place our power was on the low end, when we moved not sure what happened, but we picked up a ton of always on leach devices. You made a good point though that I didn't think about, there might be users that don't have a bunch of devices leaking power, in which case you can't recoup the cost. Thanks for sharing your experience, and welcome here.

@@HouseDadLife Thanks! Yeah from videos I've watched we don't seem to be the average use case. But certainly still been useful, and a nice way to see how much power different appliances are using.

Paying for itself is a good thing. Electricity isn't getting any cheaper, at least not for us. Smash granted.

Hey, there he is, I was just wondering where you were today, hope all is well and you have some time to enjoy the summer. As for the electricity, it's not getting cheaper here either.
