I personally think Grougu and Mando are the best thing to happen to star Wars in a long time. I loved the Solo movie. Rogue One was okay. Those 3 newer movies trash. And I agree with both your theories about Grougu and the future of star wars heading to something bigger. I feel they're trying to make a Star Wars Cinematic universe similar to the MCU. And I think it's the best way for star wars to go.

Why didn’t boba get his gun ship instead he used the rancor ? I figure gunship was better choice.

Probably because the phase guns wouldn't work much like we see the other struggling with theirs. The other thing that could really knock it around was the Rancor.
