@@DarkoPetreski I have a 12 year old thermaltake toughpower 1KW. While it's true caps don't last forever, if you get a powersupply with rubycon or nichicon caps they will easily last 10 years and actually longer if you keep them cool. Unless you have a silent version where the fan turns off, the constant stream of air from the psu fan is more then plenty to keep them nice and cool. Notice even under extreme load PSU exhaust air isn't actually very warm? Buy good quality and over rate it to begin with and you can easily get over a decade out of power supplies. Heat is the main thing that kills capacitors so that's why gpu caps and mobo caps fail since they get very hot but psu caps don't (if you get quality ones to begin with and they have airflow)

Yep, The place I work supplies DC PSUs for Telecoms & Industrial applications, and every single one of our rectifier products (and inverters for that matter) all use DSP microcontrollers to maintain the operation of the rectifier, in fact we have been doing this since at least the turn of the millenium. All our kit is 96%+ efficient upwards of 2kW output. Its always amazed me that PC PSUs relied on analogue conversion and control methods.

One other note -it would have been good to show in the graph that unlike other 80 Plus ratings, 80 Plus Titanium also requires 90% efficiency at a 10% load on the power supply. No other 80 Plus rating has a 10% requirement, meaning that Titanium power supplies must run more efficiently under lower loads.

That's one sexy power supply. Haven't used be quiet! brand yet. Still sporting Seasonic PSU's. Most reliable PSU's I have come across. I have one that has been running for 7 years so far. While corsair, evga etc brands I have used died within 1 or 2 years. May have to give be quiet a try. 1200w is alot. I would only use something like that if i was running multiple GPU's. Even with a 10900k and high end GPU your going to push max or 500w. On average though I pickup a 750 or 850w. Leave a little room.

@OtakuSanel
@OtakuSanel 4 жыл бұрын
it's marketing bullshit, they say that like it implies others don't use FETs but ALL PC PSU MANUFACTURERS USE FETS as the main switching device. A power supply is inherently analog so the whole digital thing is even more marketing wank. They are labeling it as digital in the sense that the voltage control is done with a micro-controller but that's pretty par for the course for anything that's not bargain bin junk.

So if I buy 80 plus Titanium accounting it's higher price apart from being more power stable so much safer for my components, It will "reduce" the power consumed? I mean if a less efficient psu can loss 20% of "converted" power as heat and not converted in actual energy to be used it means more power need to pulled from the wall right? So in long term less money wasted in the bill?

$50 for an EVGA 550W is a good deal, although there's no efficiency rating on them. As far that I had used it, I don't have to clean the PSU (by using vacuum or the air cans) every few months. after heavy use. And I had used a longer cable for the PSU, because the ones that EVGA had it with is very short. That is one of the cons of the PSUs.

I love Greg Videos, he wants to make videos about things, sometimes trivial about PC things. 😅👍 Just watch his why old PC case painted with Beige color. 😅

Checked out the price at the link. £370.79 (GBP). That's freaking amazing for 1200 Watts, Titanium efficiency from a top shelf brand.

2:25 PFC isn't a filter, it is an active regulation process ;) Also, the unit is not, and will never be, fully digital. There will always be a bunch of for example RC or LR circuits for filtering, which are analogue

No one would expect RC circuits to be "digital." Didn't expect anyone to take it literally.

@@GregSalazar Later in the video you mention the PSU is "fully digital", hence my statement ;-)

be quiet claims on the website, that the dark power series uses tech to reduce unwanted noises from the gpu. i assume that means coilwhine. is this true or just pr talk?

Not judging and I know why these videos are not more abundant... but.... they are so much better than "building videos". I wouldn't mind on see a more in deep video about PSU and power delivery; it's the kind of subject that even when I was at the university I always have to look again, each time I go back on the subject I forget something diferent.

You also need to make sure you have your rubber pads installed so the power supply doesn't short circuit the rest of the system.
