It's because the fence wouldn't make a difference. People can still climb it. Maybe if it was like Trumps border wall with razor wire it would make alot more sense.

You are missing the point and don't understand. This is a small area at the end of a residential neighbourhood. The american side is Point Roberts, a pene-enclave, meaning you cannot get into Point Roberts, the US side, unless you travel through Canada. That fence is stopping no one and does nothing. For years there has never been a need for it or a problem that required it. So why now?! It looks dumb, it is a literal representation of dumb.

Plenty of Canadians would like to see a border fence too, they're called conservatives and many are trump supporters. Fences are pointless when you can dig under them, and that fence looks easy to climb. Plus you can get there by boat.

I spent years of my youth at that very site, back then there was a simple rail fence about 30 inches high with a walk through opening! I crossed that fence everyday sometimes dozens of times back before 9/11. That fence was only meant to mark the end of the road and was painted white, this fence cannot be seen by cars and looks like it can easily be bypassed.

The wall needs to be extended by thousands of miles and maybe six feet vertically. Also it's kind of tragic how Americans still think we're friends after they elected a man who directly threatened our sovereignty and treated our longtime loyal friendship like it was nothing. Regardless of whoever is in office, it's going to take years to mend the relationship. I had a lot of compassion for Americans, but now I just don't trust them or want them around.
