It was mostly manga pages, but also sketches, anime clips and bunch and bunch of information. I can't remember everything, but I'm betting that there was nothing about this particular foray into adult animation. At most, perhaps it was briefly mentioned. In any case, it was a truly fascinating museum visit. My dad and I actually went together, and though he knows nothing about manga, he was still quite interested (as he is in anything new). At the same time, the museum also hosted a general manga installation that explored the art style and larger phenomenon. Most interestingly, they also had some tea enthusiasts show a proper Japanese tea ceremony, in all its cruciating detail. I love that kind of crap!

Using magic to make her pretty was probably the best part of this. Cleopatra was described by all of her contemporaries as plain or even downright ugly, but she had a charming personality. It wasn't until like 100 years later that people started writing about how beautiful she was.

I just want to point out, the guy had no choice of what body he was put in and thought he would be in a human's body, his boss made him do it, that was not a choice and Idk how people are getting that confused. The Thing about Cleopatra that i think most stories about her completley neglect or fail to mention, is that it is actually fairly well documented that she was an incredibly charismatic (not just beautiful) and very intelligent Woman. She enjoyed the most advanced education that Egypt could have offered to royalty at the time, and im pretty sure she ended up being able to speak about 10 different languages. Additionally, she probably also was one of Egypt's most beloved rulers. She wasnt just some Seductress that tempted these Roman Dictator's, but she was a genuinley charismatic and interesting person, so much so that people actually speculate that her description as the "most beautiful woman" might not even have been all that true, and instead she was just a genuinley charismatic, intelligent and interesting person, someone that simply captivated people not by her looks but through her personality.

My inner history-loving self wants to correct this whole video SO HARD. She did NOT die from a snake. As matter of fact, one thing Tezuka did right was making her "ugly" in the beginning. It's actually the case Cleopatra was considered ugly in the beauty standards back then. Many historians believe it was her voice and intelligence she seduced men with. What I really admire about Osamu Tezuka is that while "Cleopatra" was a failure, he wasn't afraid of entering into adult territory in animation since he was well-known for making manga and anime geared towards children and older audiences but had an edge to them. I do find it amusing that six years after Cleopatra was released, Tezuka made a children's manga called "Unico" (1976-1979) about a cute baby unicorn who has the power to make everybody happy, but in reality the series is extremely heartbreaking and entered dark territory despite the cute atmosphere. Unico has the power to spread happiness (such as stopping a war between Romans and makes them friendly with each other) but the gods are like "Fuck that!" and sends the West Wind (who was very reluctant on the gods orders) to take Unico away from his mother and children to a location where nobody is present. One of them briefly wanted somebody to kill Unico but one of them thought that was too cruel. He can also turn into a "Mega Unicorn" after he befriended somebody who loved him. I highly recommend you check out "The Fantastic Adventures of Unico" (1981) and especially the 1983 sequel "Unico in The Island Of Magic" (final time Tezuka was involved Unico) if you're curious. Both movies were made by Sanrio (via "Sanrio Animation") and starred Barbara Goodson (pre-Power Rangers) voicing the titular baby unicorn. Please review those movies when you get a chance. It's rare for any animated movie to make me this attached to characters that likeable and charming. Forgot to mention Sanrio and Tezuka planned on making Unico into an anime series back in 1979 with "Unico Black Cloud and White Feather" but was rejected by executives. The 1979 anime can be seen on KZbin with subtitles and the Osamu Tezuka Museum in Japan. While Unico's latest appearance was the 2000 short film "Saving Our Fragile Earth: Unico Special Chapter" which was the first Unico project without Tezuka's involvement and never gained an international release (save for Spanish speaking countries, which also dubbed "Black Cloud And White Feather".
