My favorite Red velvet music video and one of my favorite title tracks! this reminds me of when they killed the pizza man in the Peekaboo MV 😭 Wendy killed that man who was their abusive father in the picture (on their ig it said they were five sisters) and I think he was also the man that was in Wendy's teaser picture. You can see in the beginning they threw yeri a surprise party and they were all having fun in the basement they were being kept in but they had to be quiet, then something happened that made the mirror shake (he shoots the door?) and they see that the door was slightly open so Wendy goes to check it first and then they all go after her and finds things broken and Wendy holding bloody rock with blood on the floor and she also had blood on her face. They see that Wendy killed their father and Joy has a panic attack, they cleaned up the mess as you can see them scrubbing all the blood and rolling up the rug etc. Then i think they all were overwhelmed and traumatized (especially Joy) and they started fighting and arguing with each other like Seulgi and Joy and Irene and Yeri, and wendy crying against the wall. You can see Irene go and check on Yeri and Yeri was watching their old videos on the tv and Irene unplugged the tv and yeri got upset and raised her hand to hit irene but Irene grabbed her arm and just pulled her in for a hug (typical Irene mother behavior) And Joy gets overwhelmed and tries to leave the house with the murder weapon (the rock) and her and Seulgi argue as Seulgi tries to make her stay and calm her down. And then they all gathered some things and put them in those bags and then burned the house down, Joy was also filming them burning the house down, it seems like their father was filming them before with that same camera, maybe it was the footage Yeri was watching. And then they were caught by the police after burning down the house where they just dance in front of the cops accepting reality.

Personally, I think the meaning of this video goes WAY deeper than that... Lee Soo Man getting unceremoniously ousted from the very company he founded by members of his own family was hands-down the biggest story in Kpop of the last year. In their first comeback since his removal, the members of RV portraying themselves killing, hiding the body under the floorboards, escaping the house and then coming back to burn it down of an abusive father-figure who had them held captive in his basement doing private performances for him is WAY too much of a coincidence for my liking. I think RV and their creative team were making a statement with this one.

You should check all of their MV. They're always like that. Goth, Dark, Misterious, Skeleton in their MV, but smiley and bright face :)

Wendy said during Lee Mujin's service that the song "has the duality of hopefulness and tragedy" so I feel the juxtaposition of the verses and chorus is fitting. The bridge was Wendy, then Seulgi, then Joy Seulgi was arguing with Joy

Bridge was done by Wendy-seulgi-joy and the last high note was joy.

This song, mv, and themes are very similar to their other songs too specifically “Peek-A-Boo” and “Russian Roulette” which is the vibes and the contrast of songs and their lyrics which is usually either super cute or outright dark and their mv who usually goes to the opposite of it. And not yes, the story here is there is the “father" (ambigous) as the calendar highlited Nov. 13 the “release” date for the MV and the album got murdered by Wendy after the event happens at the start of the MV which is Yeri's birthday by bashing him with the rock and soaking the butterfly wings to the blood (the one the Irene wears during the outro scenes). And as you see in the MV they coverup the crime by cleaning the crimescene and classic body on the carpet under the floorboard scenario, but some members are getting anxious especially Joy which she tries to leave with the murder weapon but stop by Seulgi, Wendy getting pretty conflicted, Yeri being guilty as it was her birthday and Irene trying to comfort her. But it seems they decided to play along and performs as usually which probably what the “father” do as the seat at the start are modt likely for him but when Nov. 13 has come they decided to go out and buy gasoline and burn it all up and getting chased by the cops for the obvious arson and the suspicion of murder (remeber that Irene's butterfly wings have blood on them).
