@@shreyashrivastava4840 I think English speakers use Schadenfreude the same way as we do, so that's the joy at somebody else's misfortune, but translated literally, it's "damage-joy". So if you just take "Schaden", that means damage. It's funny because you'd expect the phrase to go "Schadenfreunde is an overrated joy", but also "einen Schaden haben" (lit. to have a damage) is colloquial for being crazy/unreasonable about a certain thing. So it kind of fits after all. (Now I've probably over-explained, but I hope it makes sense!)

I'll take the question in the bottom right corner at 3:10 literally and answer it in a very TAR inspired way. Little me at the age of 13 feel in love with a book called " the fault in our stars". It satisfied all the restless, anxious and scared bits inside me. In the next 2 years I read Looking for Alaska, paper towns and TATWD. For the first time I figured what happend in my head. All those spirals Aza experienced seamed so similar to my own thoughts. But still my spirals got deeper and deeper. I suffered several mental illnesses and hit my worst point last year in April. I felt alone, sad, anxious and depressed. In my restless state of mind I calmed my thoughts again with TFIOS. I googled John Green and found the vlogbrothers. I binge watched their videos, my mood got better as I found something that I looked forward too. The joy quirky Hank brought me. The deep thoughts from John that break my spirals. Soon I found the Nerdfighteria and tuataria discord. I finally found a place, a community a felt like I belonged to. I learned a lot about myself as I stopped trying to be someone else. Nerdfighteria gave me stability, hope and a way to find myself. It gave me "a we that doesn't requires a them"(-john green) I give Nerdfighteria 5 stars

I love the sense of closeness that the smaller community brings and both the podcasts and the videos were the ones that helped me most with my anxiety and depressive moments in the midst of the pandemic and isolation. To this day I still use your podcast to get to sleep without entering a loop of thoughts and your vision always grows mine and makes me thank the universe for the existence of all this that you create and brings me hope for humanity, a reason to live, really. Thank you for everything you do, I love you so much. - Maria Fernanda from Brazil :)

it's crazy what this community has meant to me - i fell out when i was in a relationship that pretty much destroyed my core belief system and in the years of building that backup, i've refound y'all and it has felt like coming home. especially in the last year - i don't interact much with the community anymore (i've lost my zeal for internet friends that i had when i was junior high school and absolutely living for nerdfighteria) but this past year, you have made the aloneness that can be so suffocating just.... less suffocating through videos and live streams and just honesty.

i joined nerdfighteria circa 2014 when tifios came out, largely because i wanted to participate in that pop culture moment. i was a freshman in highschool when i binged all of John's books and throughout those 4 years, i relegiously watched vlogbrothers videos as they uploaded and worked my way through the brotherhood 2.0 backlog. i mostly fell off when i went to college, but recently rejoined a couple months ago after graduating; looking for a new podcast, i thought i would check out the anthropocene reviewed. i was reminded of what made me so invested in nerdfighteria during my high school years. the values of being kind and thoughtful and caring, promoted in every project John & Hank work on, became important to me. Also, Nerdfighteria was probably my first fandom experience and it really helped me figure out how to engage in online communities in a way that is healthy & fufilling. i really credit this community for helping me figure out how to grow up back then. and now, as I'm figuring out how to be an "adult," it's been such a joy to return; the podcast and the quarantine backlog of vlogbrothers videos have been immensely helpful in trying to make sense of the current world. so thank you to nerdfighteria for existing and for helping me figure out how to exist. - dftba
