Bass is pronounced as base, brother! I made that mistake when I was young and was promptly corrected on it, lol. Just thought I'd share. Primus is a great band. My girl never liked Primus until I took her to go see them live at the Oakdale Theater in Connecticut. Being a concert junkie she agreed to give them a chance. We were on the edge of the pit all night so she could get close to the action without getting hurt. I’ve been a fan since around 1990 and though I love their albums it’s their live show that never fails to be phenomenal. They killed it and she got to elbow a few people who got too close. Lol. She’s become a huge fan. Les is known to have a ton of side projects, too. Colonel Claypool’s Bucket of Bernie Brains is worth checking out with Buckethead, Bernie Worrell from P Funk, and Bryan “Brain” Mantia who is drummer on a few Primus Albums. He did one album under the name Sausage which is actually the original Primus lineup. Todd Huth on guitar and Jay Lane on drums. I recommend starting with “Riddles are Abound Tonight” on that album. He has a solo project where he plays everything with only a few small guest musicians an a few songs. That album is called “Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel Presents: Highball With the Devil.” The track “Holy Mackerel” is a good place to start on that album. He has a project called Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade with a rotating membership of musicians and some interesting instrumentation. They play a lot of festivals and shows and are actually on tour right now. Lastly, Les was a massive fan of Geddy Lee and Rush early on and became friends with them in the 90s. My best friend and his brother saw Primus open for Rush and that’s my biggest missed-concert regret.

Fun fact though I can't find the confirmation of this: my understanding is that the track was recorded on a funky old upright bass Les Claypool had.. And it got through the take used on the album, and then promptly exploded from the string tension. Which I think, seems appropriate :)
