I would hope that the point you're making is that the government policy is functionally conservative at the end of the day. Socially, Austin is very liberal. The argument you make is a valid one, since people moving to Texas may not understand the situation fully, but it's also important for those people to know that without the state overruling the city so often, the policy would flip 180°. A conservative moving to Austin would find themselves socially lost, whereas a liberal moving to Austin would find the government policy at issue often.

I think Austin is liberal enough to create mess after mess after mess, which only get cleaned up after a year or three of political/legal wrangling. I'm surprised you left off the camping ordinance issue, which is significant for the reason that the vote to repeal it (over the city council's wishes) was overwhelming. Even progressives cast a wary eye on homeless encampments just a few blocks from elementary schools.

@SFSCharles5 ай бұрын
Of course there are, but the myth will have you believe it’s 100% Democrat. For those who claim I don’t know what I’m talking about, who were the ones protesting outside the hotels the City Council intended to fill with homeless? Or the ones who got Prop B on the ballot in the first place? And of course, who sued the city and got them to reverse several of their zoning plans, including Code Next? From my perspective, part of the issue might be a majority in registered voters, but the real problem is the small number of residents who actually vote. The small percentage who cast a vote (especially outside presidential election cycles) are the ones who determine the direction of local policy.

I watch lots of your videos, this one is the first of it's kind and I didn't enjoy it as much as real estate and economy focused videos. There is nothing conservative or liberal about telling the public that you will not enforce laws. Having seen people labeled as conservative who decide that laws are not in line w their personal or political beliefs and say that they will not enforce them,; often about guns. Here you have a person described as a liberal who makes a public statement, that he is in law enforcement, but through a personal process will not enforce the laws. In both cases it's wrong.. law enforcement needs to enforce laws. full stop It's not completely in context because statements are made as if some kind of dictatorship or kingdom exists were prosecutor gets what he wants.. usually in murder cases there are multiple levels, first prosecutor's office weighs the evidence, if they determine it's strong, it's still often subjected to a grand jury, which in Texas is 12 people, in some states it's up to 22 people.. so 12 Texans saw evidence, listened to witnesses and decided the case was strong enough to proceed to trial. And then another 12 different jurors and different judge took on the case..so yes the prosecutor got what he ultimately wanted, a conviction, the jury is who convicted the livery driver.. and if you are doing ride share driving it has absolutely zero to do with the military or military service. In my own personal opinion, after seeing things as far back as Rodney King riots, if someone approaches your vehicle, let alone starts acting aggressive, you should assume from recent American history your life is in danger and act accordingly. If you pardon someone it means in this case you don't have respect for the jury process

There are some, dont get me wrong, 30% of Travis County voted Trump in the 2024 election, but that also means 70% voted Harris.
