It’s basically 100% a cast button, the original switch was supposed to have a casting feature according to the Nintendo hack back in the day but it was scrapped due to it being too expensive at a time where Nintendo was going bankrupt.

Why would casting need a dedicated button? No other hardware (phones, tablets, notebooks) needs a dedicated button for that. That could just be added to the home menu. There's no point in a dedicated button.

It most likely doesn't stand for anything. Cast in other parts of the world including japan dont start with C. And controller buttons across the board dont stand for anything for that reason thats why they all use shapes and Letters to be universally understood.

How exactly would a disc drive that takes full size Wii discs fit in the shape of a Nintendo Switch, if they did do that then why would you press a button always on the controller for this function rather than just insert disc/cartridge? Do you mean connect like connecting a 3DS version of a game to Wii U or something to get a small reward in one? Nintendo shut down both and no longer makes a penny off of any game or system released pre-Switch, so they probably wouldn't. But if so then that's be like having a dedicated Amiibo button rather than going into a menu for it. I assume you don't mean connect as in use switch as DS bottom screen and a TV as top screen as that wouldn't apply to Wii. Maybe I'm not understanding exactly what you mean. I would also like a comeback for backwards compatibility for Nintendo though, but they probably aren't the type to be further backwards compatible than last gen considering the DSi has the hardware for GBA games yet no slot and doesn't take them, and the Wii U has Gamecube hardware inside yet no backwards compatability.

I do agree this is probably a low priority for them though unless it’s a virtual console type thing so we can buy old games again on a new console. I don’t know if this will be the Nintendo switches gimmick, But I think it’s possible. Imagine if the Switch has a front facing camera in the screen. Is it possible that the dock was lowered so that a camera on the front of the switch can see out into the living room? A front facing camera could provide new online social features (video chat), help the system track/calibrate the joy cons for Wii game Emulation, and even provide full body tracking, and other cool stuff that used to require dedicated hardware like a Kinect (because of improvements in AI body tracking). When in portable mode I can imagine all kinds of goofy Nintendoesque selfie cam stuff like the 3Ds did.

I think the C button will open an overlay menu. Just a menu that pops up over the game. Mind you, it could still include connect/chat/camera/etc as menu options.

No more speculation, just the truth. - This C-Button on the Switch 2 is the camera button for plugging accessories in the secondary USB-c port sitting on the top of the console. Nintendo plans to sell other accessories to attach to this port. This other port is not for charging. It is for planned accessories. The team at Nintendo appears to be working on attachment plans for their upcoming games.

I really wish it would be cast, they are remaking more and more games, but it's impossible for them to do that with DS, 3DS, or WiiU without a double screen, but cast would definitely make it possible. And there are many DS and 3DS games I would love to play again, even if it's just on NSO

Interestingly ive seen nobody come up with this idea but what if the c button is just a quick menu button. It brings up a quick menu similar to the xbox series s and x where you can easily switch from one game to another without having to shut off a game.

i think it's either for Changing whether or not the graphics are upgraded or not like how the PS5 lets you prioritize frame rate or graphics, or it's for whether or not the top C port is for charging or accessories plugged into it
