No need for fancy intros….
No need for fancy graphics….
No need for sponsorship….
I’m not trying to create fancy, new & exciting content…
Just day to day sparky videos
If you like it, that’s cool, if you don’t, that’s cool as well.
Remember, context is important, I can’t show/film every part of every test otherwise I’d still be there now😂just assume I’ve carried it out correctly

Yeah mate you absolutely nailed it with first the title for that it's what's wrong with a lot of these college courses. As for the shared neutral you got straight to the point without any need for a song, dance and sponsor. Make a mention of power tools and then expect some freebies in the post, you never know. Lol

Good video. I had a mini-nightmare with neutrals recently doing a church EICR. Had I done your test at the beginning it would have saved a lot of time! There were 3 lighting circuits behind one 9 gang grid switch and eventually I concluded that the neutrals for all the lights were randomly mixed up between the 3 choc blocks. Add in a N-E fault at a light and a lot of fun started. The lights connected to the line of the circuit allegedly giving zero IR at the CU were nothing to do with the actual problem! You could also take out all 3 neutrals at the CU and two of the circuits lights still came on via the mixed up N's and the earth fault. I got there in the end!

Nice idea I like it, you know someone will try this and leave the permanent feed of upstairs lights still in the light of landing and wire the feed from down stairs into it too 🤣🤣

I think i may be reading this wrong, are you connecting a 3 core from a ground floor pendant to a pendant on the landing?

What is the best way to find the culprit light fitting. Is it always the landing light and is there always just a single insulated line conductor from a nearby common? I think my parent’s home has this issue as when they turn off their kitchen lights LEDs one series of light remains lightly dimmed. Am I right in thinking this could be due to the shared neutral from the first floor bedroom?

Respectfully disagree, 9/10 I can explain the benefits however there is that 1/10 that I end up putting them on the same rcbo

So basically, when you are done, the landing light is on the downstairs circuit, and you have removed the single core neutral from wherever it's connected? That sounds good if I've got that right.

Spot on, the way things are going with the government and gas, would you just not rewire a house in 4mm radial to allow for what is going to happen in the new electric future ?

No, you're adding a link from a downstairs circuit pendant to 1st floor landing pendant which traditionally is wired from the ground floor
