I am addicted to solo travel! I've visited over 100 countries solo thus far, and with every trip I am getting closer to seeing the whole world. Great video!

How do you even afford that!? Not only is it expensive but you'd need a job that allows for all the time off.
@ChrisMustList

@@---GOD--- the word expensive is relevant. What may be expensive to you, may be easily affordable for me. Now that I have KZbin and views that covers my costs.

Traveling different places has its many advantages. We come across many different people, it helps in building our personality, communication skills. We come out of our comfort zone. It helps in braking the mindset about particular place, people and lifestyles.

This really hit home. I was traveling for a year and a half and it was amazing for growth. I did notice the past 2 years without traveling I am a bit more stagnant. I think a good balance is long term travel then a break to work and stay in one place for a while. Rinse and repeat.

I've been where you've been. Feeling kinda burned out on traveling. I have the need to persue something that will get me ahead in life, i miss that structure and struggle be it school or a career. Once you get back to that for a while, the thrist for travel alway returns, it's important build that future while also traveling as much as possible while we young.

It is fascinating to hear you reflecting on such significant ideas. The balance between the independence and freedom travel and relocating gives you to reimagine yourself and the opposite need to experience intimacy and community is a fundamental dialectic as we move through life. Thanks for sharing your journey.

"Every place is just a place." Reminds me of the quote "When you get there, there is no there." Quit RTW travel over 5 years ago and couldn't be happier with sedentary life after putting down roots! I think the biggest benefit of RTW travel is it demystifies the world for you. As you say, sometimes we think "the grass is greener" but it really isn't. A great example, when I visited Bali many years ago. Had always thought of it as this idyllic paradise. Then I sat down on filthy Kuta beach that had cigarette butts, broken bottles and brownish beach water. Seminyak beach was no better. Ubud was ok but still very touristy. And Indonesia as a whole is quite a corrupt country all around. There went my illusions of paradise. Travel while you are young, see the world, demistify all the myths you have about the grass being greener, then find a nice spouse, settle down, put down roots and enjoy life in one place. So glad I did all this before the "new normal" of "coronascam" kicked in! :-) Good luck and God bless all on this interesting journey called life!

I would say visiting a place several times gives you a new window in to the country. First time you might be amazed or disappointed by a place because you have an image of a place put in to your head by friends, family or media. Second time you have your own view, because you experienced it. The more times you visit a place the more nuanced view you have of a place because you will see other areas of that same place. The movie Avatar said "you can not fill a cup that already is full". For me the main problems with many tourists and expats is that they never really leave their home. If they make friends, its friends from their home country or other expats. It is like they are afraid of opening totally op for the new culture they are in Maybe because I try to see new things in a country, even if I lived there for 10 years. I still sometimes have a wow experience that makes me super emotional. Like when I visited one of germany's best cathedrals the Naumburg cathedral and had it one hour just for myself this year (because of low season + Corona)
