Good review and love the fact you both bought one. I'm loving my San Remo 73 version, nearly a year in. Best addition I've made is the storage box that clips between the seat and cill. Ideal for your wallet, keys, sunglasses, etc. Available on the internet from a place in France. No creeks or rattles for me so far.

Thx to both of you for taking the time to film, edit and upload the A110 review. I've owned my A110S for about 7 months. Great car and as Maddy said the way you can enter roundabouts is simply astounding. Like you I've spent a few pennies with Life 110 - Panel Filter, Oil Cap cover, Titanium Rear Track Rods, Life110 Geo settings (done by Spires). I also got pedal extenders from France for the gear paddles. I'm toying with an exhaust from WORTEC but probably the most obvious thing would be to get some winter tyres given the car is fitted with the CUP2 option, it's interesting in the colder weather. Cheers, Kevin

Nice and good review although as an owner of a Legende GT I don't agree on all points, or rather I have not experienced some of the negatives mentioned. For example, no annoying squeeks or rattles; and we feel it's a great motorway tourer and very quiet inside too. A 911 or Cayman are a lot noisier. I do agree when it's gusty you can be blown off course a bit. I also noticed the quality of the LGT was better than the very early cars in terms of interior fit. For touring, recommend to buy soft luggage custom-made for the frunk and boot; then a 3 week continental trip is easily possible. It encourages travelling light which is great c.f. than stuffing your car with extras, "just in case".. I have to admit the suspension is firmer than I thought it'd be - the 17" wheel option with the bigger tyre wall will be softer. Great music system when connected with bluetooth and the sat-nav is perfectly fine but can't be upgraded as no longer supported by Bosch. I also didn't notice the difference in power between the base unit and the 300 hp GT, in fact the 252 hp sounded better, less 'strained' to my ears. Seat comfort is always subjective, and I found both seat types to be comfortable. Big advantage of the comfort seats is they can be height adjusted; the bucket seats you need to get the dealer to adjust with a spanner. Great car and probably best used as 2nd sporty car IMHO.

Great vid. Picked up my A110 a few weeks ago and I love it! And it hasn't started squeaking or rattling....... yet. 😜
@fullyplantd8 күн бұрын
Aaah you must be going through the "Can't drive the car right now, so I'll watch videos on the car I already own" phase 😆 Supposedly the door rattles are caused by the door handle rod that goes across to the latch. There is no insulation at all so it can get a bit vibratey. I seem to be the only person who complains about frequent rattles though, so yours might not develop any.

Love your review and I totally concur with your theme that the Alpine A110 is such a small manoeuvrable car that you can drive it to its limit within the legal speed limit and be smiling all of the way; I have been fortunate to drive all the V8’s and V12 and the fear of there being wheel spin on a sloppy road together with the huge size and weight of these cars not to overlook the ‘huge costs of running on servicing and insuring’ makes them pointless other than on carefully planned road trip. My dilemma is I have now acquired an Alfa 4C Spider which is even more engaging and fun than the Alpine A110 now that Alfa Works have engineered so many improvements to the steering since its launch in 2013 when the car left the factory unfinished and unsafe, albeit the 4C lacks the Alpine’s GT cross continental characteristics. One of them has to go however I am incapable of deciding which
@fullyplantd6 күн бұрын
Yep agreed. I'd love a supercar, I want to know what all the fuss is about. But those that I have driven have only been able to provide thrills going in a straight line on the perfect road. And then I lie awake at night thinking "oh damn, if we had crashed at that speed.. we die" I'd have a hard time deciding too. In your situation I'd probably sell the Alpine just because the 4C is more rare and you can always buy another one. Where as your 4C sounds like it's been nicely modded so it will be tough to find another like it without having to send another to Alfa Works.

To your beautiful conversation I add my comment: extraordinary car. I own an A110 R (Pikes Peak livery unique in the world) and it is completely different from the basic version, from the GT and from the S. The negative aspects you speak of, disappear completely. The R is the perfect car created by Alpine and has nothing to envy from supercars. Nothing. You should try the R. Compliments for the channel and for the splendid dog. Greetings from Italy.

I Jetwash mine (2022 GT) but use lower pressure around the rear window seal - I routinely check the oil with the dipstick, do not a problem to clean the insides of the glass - also have no squeaks and rattles after 2 1/2 years - it’s a great car

Thanks, worth driving an S and a GT back to back, I found the S to be too hard and crashy without giving much improvement in dyanamics. I'd actually rather buy the cheapest pure and then add Life110 bits

Thanks for your review. Have you driven a Lotus Elise? If so, how do they compare? Shame there isn't the option for a manual box.
@fullyplantd6 күн бұрын
I did the Lotus Elise coaching day at Hethel a couple of years ago. Imagine the Elise having a nice interior, fixed roof and a DCT and that's the Alpine. I prefer the Alpine's engine, some people say the Alpine doesn't have a characterful engine but I think it does and it's the Elise that doesn't have the characterful engine. So I guess that's down to personal preference. The Elise doesn't have power-steering, but I don't think the Alpine's electric steering hinders it much because the car is so light that there is tons of communication through your bum anyway. You definitely sit slightly lower in the chassis in an Elise too. So a lot of it comes down to what you look for in a car. But for me, the Alpine is the car you'll do more miles per year in compared to the Elise which needs the perfect weather, perfect destination and someone with you who is happy to climb in and out whenever you stop somewhere.
@eddthirty40656 күн бұрын
@@fullyplantd thanks for that - I'm considering something more civilised than the Elise, but I think I'd miss the manual shift. The Toyota 2ZZ in my S2 isn't that inspiring, definitely not as nice sounding as the old Rover unit in earlier S2 and S1. It redeems itself with a high rev limit and the supercharger gives it plenty of push. I've got Nitrons on mine, the damping is spot-on, compliant even on the rubbish roads we have. I think I'll need to try one and see how I get on.

@@eddthirty4065 Do you care about 0-60 times? The Mazda RX8 is often overlooked. Not a fast car though. A Porsche 997 with a Hartech rebuild would be on my list too.

To be completely honest, I bought mine 7 years ago but wishing there was a manual gearbox. from around week 6 I stopped thinking about it & now I completely agree with the engineers deciding on only offering it as a twin clutch auto. The paddles actually enhance the drive as the shifts in track mode (the only mode you should use when pushing) are so fast & crisp that there is no way I could manually change as efficiently & allows me to better concentrate on the cornering and you can left foot brake which again is more efficient. So to summarize... what manual gerbox?

My wife and I have both wanted one of these since launch in 2018. Don't have the funds just now but will get one probably when they're about 10-12 years old!! This and an mx5 are literally the only new cars on sale that hold any interest for me!!

Same, I hypothetically shop for cars with around a £200k budget and they're all too big and fast now, you get no enjoyment on the road. I think I'm going to ask the dealer if I can try an A110 R just out of curiosity.

Nice video but I wholeheartedly disagree on the second hand buying comment. First of all this is and will be one of the last great enthusiast cars, so Alpine needs to be supported by whoever can support them. And also you can create some amazing unique specs with their Atelier program. I just recently bought mine in one of those lovely heritage colors. To know that you have one of only 110 in this exact color is just so damn cool and seeing the plaque and the number on it for the first time made me really giddy. Also sadly I need to disagree a bit on running cost. Here in Germany, dealers charge 400-500€ on an oil change alone, not even a full service. That kinda sucks. Still love your modified seats by the way, still thinking about doing something similar with my buckets, but only for the upper part, like Alpine are now offering for the S.
@fullyplantd2 күн бұрын
Nice, damn that's expensive. Here in the UK some dealers do the oil/filter change for as little as £150. I would like to test drive an A110 R at some point too. I love how aggressive they look.

Yes, my S rattles and squeaks too, and it definitely gets worse when the car is warm. Unfortunately, I also have trouble reproducing it reliably. Aside from that, it's the best fun car I've ever had. I also ordered it new because I wanted one of the Heritage colors (bleu paon).
@fullyplantd6 күн бұрын
Yeah, it doesn't even seem to be down to bad build quality, just lack of sound deadening everywhere I think. Annoying as I have 1 year of warranty left so I really should get the dealer investigating every rattle while I still can.
