Thank you for this video! Just found your channel while diving into my research journey to apply for joining reserves as an officer. There's a ton of material out there that gives the "it's the best, you should join" vibe, but seeing a genuine reflection from someone that's recently gone through it is SO invaluable. Thank you for your service and the great content. Keep aiming high!

As an Army veteran, I would tell anyone who is interested in joining the military, I would tell them to join the Air Force or the Coast Guard. These branches prioritize their service members' education and quality of life. I'm just saying!

Yep. My dad was navy and saw how bad his family/life balance was and he even told me I would rather you go Air Force even though I'm navy. I can vouch for that for sure. Even our deployment cycles will no longer be 9 months, with the new afforgen phases the air force has limited it to 6.

The USAF was a great 38 year career for me; I miss some aspects (retired 2021); however, overall it is something I am proud of, yet glad I have moved on. All jobs have negatives, but overall my USAF career was positive...I made the best of every assignment and when I had a bad commander, I knew they would move on in 2-3 years, so I learned how to endure....only had a couple of bad commanders, but several bad supervisors. The good leaders far outweighed the bad.

@laurencebrooks7699
@laurencebrooks7699 2 ай бұрын
@@jerrod9009 It depends on your goals and whats going on right now in your life. I opted to join at 18 to get away and be on my own....never regretted that decision. I earned my degree in 10 years during a time distance learning was not an option, and by the time I was eligible to apply for officer training school, I opted not to do that. I went on to complete my Masters Degree before retiring as a Master Sergeant, then joined the civil service as a GS11...not everyone can come in at that grade, but my military background and Masters Degree made this possible. Look at your options, and if you go enlisted, join up for 6 years to come in as an E3.....its worth it.

I’m 23 am i to late to the game? I’m supposed to have a logistics job, I’ve hit my head a few times outside in the civilian world. Wasted 20k but no kids and kinda reached the point where i want more for myself and to maximize my time i have of now for my future self. Unfortunately I didn’t score for the job I anticipated to have but I’m willing to take what i can get and hopefully do school while I’m in. I know the military isn’t as glamorous as it seems and dedicating 4 years seems a little daunting for i look back in retrospect and wish i did this earlier out of high school or before I arrived at this defining age of 23. Just being forthright and transparent yet seeking some advice. At certain ages people don’t have all the understanding, awareness or insight they tend to eventually eventually acquire as they grow older.

Hello, i apologize for having to reply late. been busy. i appreciate your comment. I don't think it's too late to join honestly. I'm 36 and i know a ton of other people who are joining at a later life. >30. I would definitely look into logistics jobs and contact a recruiter to let them know your desires and what you do. There is no harm in keeping your options open for sure. My advise is to seek counsel with a recruiter. the sooner the better.
