I admit I find this series fascinating. It is certainly interesting. It’s so strange. Overall they seem like very nice children. I’m so glad they finally broke free from the Vice grip of their parents. I think Olivia was really desperate to not live as a woman/servant as was expected. I was sad she and Ethan didn’t work out. When he said ‘when was the last time you cooked a meal’ I said to myself… run girl run! Moriah is all over the place. As for Kim, she seems desperate for attention. She really gets visually tense if she is not the center of attention. They are an interesting group and serves as a message how not to raise your children.
@gracieallan412410 күн бұрын
He explains in another episode that he didn’t mean what people have put into that comment. Cooking for Ethan was something special that Olivia used to do for Ethan. She knew how much it meant to him. At the point when he makes this comment, she hasn’t made him dinner in over two years. That’s an intentional injury. I think Olivia is so much more adept at expressing herself that she’s able to make herself look better than she is. Conversely, Ethan ends up not coming across as favorably as he should because he doesn’t have the gift of “spinning” the story to his advantage

I just found this show about a month ago and already watched all 6 seasons and am caught up. My take is that Oliva is not as innocent as she portrays herself. My first red flag was when she got upset riding around in Ethans roadster complaining that his family might see her and then the car ran out of gas and she seemed ticked. I know Ethan is probably hard to deal with in ways, but I don't like how she basically made him choose her or his family. Lydia seems like a sweetheart all around and is my favorite. She just seems like an all around good person and she will make somebody very happy one day like Kim said. Barry is slowly becoming top of my list too because he seems like a fun person to be around. I was impressed with his gym skills chest pressing 90lb dumb bells on that one episode. On the divorce paper episiode, I kinda wished Ethan would of just signed the divorce papers acting like it didn't bother him as much as it did. He really didn't expect Olivia to separate from him. It sounds like it was for the best, however as Ethan is obviously conservative and Olivia is very liberal. Kims decision to buy a boat that didn't run seemed strange. Very surprised to see she got a DUI when she touted so many times how her mom was an alcoholic growing up. Sorry for the long post, but I got sucked into this show in a bad way.

I felt bad for Ethan and Olivia but for different reasons. Both were severely repressed within their families. The difference is that while Olivia went into therapy to adjust to the world, it doesn't seem that Ethan did. It pains me to see him so socially awkward. It seems that he was never allowed to show his emotions as a child because he clearly doesn't know how to deal with them as an adult. I really wish he'd gotten the therapy he so desperately needs.

You obviously are an apologist for Olivia Plath. You make it seem as if she is entirely innocent and in reality a victim of abuses thrust upon her by these two evil fundamental religious families. From my perspective she could've quickly and easily 'cleared things up' in the cases of several points of dispute if she hadn't been so self-pitying and weepy. I do hold Ethan culpable for some of the growing tensions because he's such a poor communicator--very poor indeed. He is anathema to any form of confrontation--perhaps that's an attempt to be 'gentle' or kind, but it sure hasn't served well and in his favor. I do agree with Ethan's insistence that he would parent his children in a conservative fashion. That's a big problem in America today--permissive, progressive-thinking famliies with few to no standards of cecorum or morality. Call me old fashioned? Yep I sure am. Naturally in a reality drama and expose of private stuff like this show, I wish all of them well and hope they can each find peace and happiness.

Ethan said he would disown a gay child which doesn't sound very loving or family centered to me. Also Olivia was basically a child getting married and Kim used her then flipped out when Olivia wouldn't let her use Ethan anymore.
@rchender4 ай бұрын
Animals often destroy their offspring when they discover or come to understand that these offspring aren't viable. From a social, moral, religious perspective, Ethan recognizes that separation and isolation from a morally, biologically deficient child is basic to the integrity of his Christian beliefs and family definition. While we may not all agree on that POV, why is it so difficult for people to believe that some people are actually religiously devoted to that POV? Olivia was damaged goods, both emotionally and psychologically from her family upbringing. Kim is just whacked. She is a total hypocrite and most of the time fails to make any sense at all. She's arrogant, selfish, self-absorbed and only thinks of herself and her own self-satisfaction. Olivia has had plenty of time to become a big girl at this point, but again as I said, she's proven at this point to be selfish damaged goods. I still stand by my comment that Ethan is a very poor communicator. I do think the show's producers have done their level best to impugn the character, standards, morals and beliefs of stronly religious-based families. That's consistent with leftist media and progressive immorality in Hollywood. @@joanna0988

The word “Trained” should only be used for pets & farm animals - Not Your Children… Fundies F__ their kids up for life in the ‘real world’.

The plaths lived an ideal childhood. You are speaking from a point of View as you being the child. I look at it from a parents perspective and i wish so much i could have raised mine that way. You have to remember kids havent been parents but parents have been kids. Prioritizing being able to do whatever you want is a very naive perspective and i promise you will change what you believe as you mature.

Educational neglect is abuse. A lot of children actually have been parents before because they were parentified. Like the Plath children being parentified and having to be the parent to their younger siblings. Parentification is abuse. Parentification can, and often does, result in CPTSD. Being denied access to the things you need to understand in order to do school have a job go to the doctor is abuse. I’m 39. I am a parent and I homeschool. I am also an adult who has been dealing with the consequences of medical neglect my entire life. Someone like you who is advocating for child abuse, and justifying child abuse should not have children and if you do what you stated you do you should have a safety plan in place because your children are not safe around you. If you believe that medical neglect, parentification, physical abuse (which is THE theme of the Pearls book) & educational neglect are acceptable you are a dangerous and abusive person.

@@Cbbartelt How is homeschooling and being Christian advocating for abuse? Helping is not parenting. Children need responsibility and respect. They do it because its what they believe is best for their children, i wish i had the money to have a similar upbringing for my 4. You dont have to like it. They lived on a farm, they were very close with their siblings, they didn’t use very much internet or TV. They put on plays and played in a family band. I dont remember them ever saying they never went to the doctor when they were sick.
