I wonder if Yamaha could've though of reworking there Genesis style hub centre steering system into a duel arm, it might have ended up lighter, or possible seemingly less complex in the leaning cross-inkages & simpler method of Ackerman Effect adjustment steering wise, with a similar width between the hubs, ...plus without the nturally massive/stiff (forged?) fork stanchions top and bottom per side, and current unsprung & whole suspension weighting.

I tried one in the Austian Alps for a whole Day: 3 Reasons why I would never Buy it: 1. It feels as havy as it looks but does not have the Comfort or the torque you would expect from a heavy Bike. A bigger Motor (Tenere 1200 for example) would fit it better. 2. You don‘t have any feel for the front Tyres whatsoever, and you never know How much space you have to the side of the road, this (and the weight) makes it very hard to ride in a clean line. 3. It is just ugly, you get a lot of attention but not not the good kind. and: in a a few years, wo will produce 15 Inch Tyres which can do over 200? You could put on Scooter Tyres, but what Sense does it make to have 2 Wheels for more Grip if you only get crappy Tyres for it?

Pricey to maintance I have read....has problems with the steering unit on some older models...Don't know if that has been fixed yet. But the idea is sound..if tricky to make low maintanence...Plus they not cheap to start with.

the beauty of being a rider is to be able to filter through traffic during rush hour. A bike this wide can't do that. What's the point then?

It looks strange because we're not used to seeing it. But i think this is a good upgrade to the design of a motorcycle. That extra wheel gives double the traction in front something that might save you from crashing in an unexpected event. I personally it looks badass and not ordinary which is cool in my book. I don't know about maintenance in the future how much it might cost in the long run.
@aluisious11 ай бұрын
It's not an "upgrade." This is not better than a motorcycle. It's different. And two wheels don't give double the traction, because weight is a factor in tire grip. Two tires each have less grip than 1 tire with the same weight, so it's not a simple "double the traction."

Half the front tire replacement could also cause twice the rear tire replacement periodicity... since cornering would automatically drag the rear tire over into alignment with the side of the front used in the corner, if it didn't... then you could be cornering with the left (or right) front and the rear remains centered between the two out of alignment. Probably no matter how you slice it, doubling the rear tire replacement period while cutting the front tire replacement of 2 tires instead of 1 equals... in one tire replacement period, you'd replace 2 rears (possibly), then in 2 tire replacement periods you'd replace 2 more rears and both fronts.

On a regular bike, in one tire replacement cycle you'd replace 2 tires and in two tire replacement cycles you'd replace 4 totally. On this you'd replace 2 rear tires in one period cycle, then 2 more rears in the second period cycle along with 2 fronts at half the rate... meaning in two tire replacement cycles you'd consume 6 tires when a traditional bike would only consume 4 tires in the same total two tire cycle periods. That would imply a 50% increase on tire replacement of a 3 wheeler compared with a conventional 2 wheel... and it makes sense b/c you added 50% more tires over the 2 wheel to begin with (2 + 1, when 1 was 50% of the original). So there is possibly little to no tire replacement savings over the lifetime, and potential of twice the fork seal replacement cost.

The local deal let me have one for the afternoon. Now I own an H2 Carbon so I was not afraid to ring it's neck and he encouraged me to do so. I like it, maybe if your getting back into motorcycles it might be the safest for you rather than buying something of a known brand for the image, that way you will probably make it around the corner if you make a mistake. More power would be nice but then I'm used to 200Hp+. I could constantly make the rear drift out but the front was planted. It would seem that a lot of people suffer from 'Cognitive Dissonance'. Man up and try something different, this system works.

Why don’t motorcycle people call “upside down forks” “inverted suspension/struts” I learned of this on my 1999 Ver.5 Subaru Impreza JDM special order. Looking for a Bike now everyone said upside down!?! It’s driving me nuts 🤣😂🤣 21 years ago it was cool tech, now so who cares? It is Inverted... it gets weight from under the strut and puts it above the shock to help give better traction! It is important. 👍 Great channel tho😁

The width of a bike is the handlebar width. The Niken handle bar is nor longer then any other standard motorcycle. Or you can think of the body as wide as panniers.

Rob Craft As soon I saw this I wanted it. I live here in the Philippines during the Winter and I've seen the older models over the past three years or so. They may be cheaper over here then in the US, obviously. I will go to a Yamaha dealer and check the price. Shane is a cool brother and I learn so much from this dude every time I watch his videos. We would trust this guy "on the street" because he is about "Real Talk". I see why so people may hate on him in the biking business. But at 73, I'm still riding and looking for a state side bike (Harley Heritage Classic) . Easy Rider Brothers.

So did the tester do the whole test with the ABS & traction control off? The whole idea of those features is to let you ride (and ride faster) safely in less than optimal conditions. As I drive in slippery conditions regularly on my Piaggio MP3 500, I can't imagine deliberately turning those slide preventing features off.

This "bike" (technically not a bike with three wheels) really answers the question that no-one was asking. It's currently available on super low finance and at a discounted price. I don't think I have ever seen one on the street since it's release. Even Can-Am Spyders outsell this thing. I'm not saying it's badly built but someone really was mistaken when trying to gauge market demand.
