Story Time: 15+ years ago or so I was working a third job on the weekends working the door and checking ID's at a local club in Dyersburg, TN. One Tuesday afternoon I walk in to pick up my check and there's this one guy in the entire place eating lunch with the manager, so I sit down and join them. We shook hands and introduced ourselves. This was pre-smartphone days, and the name didn't ring a bell, but his shop shirt said Monte on it and Boss Hoss as the business. Anyway, we talked casually for a few minutes as Monte finished his cold ones and eventually he said he had to get back to work. I said something to the effect of, "You think your supervisor's gonna bust you for having a few with lunch?" He shrugged it off as no big deal, replying, "Nah, I should be okay." I asked him if he got to build any bikes there, to which he replied: "I just sweep the floors, brother." The club manager burst out laughing at this, but didn't say anything. As Monte got up to leave, we shook hands and off he went, presumably back to sweep the floors. Only after he was gone did the manager tell me that he didn't sweep the floors at all, and that I had just sat down with Monte Warne--the founder of Boss Hoss Motorcycles. To this day, I still have trust issues believing people when we first meet. My social life thanks you, Monte.

Thanks for the review. I’ve been a owner and rider of Boss Hoss since 2006 and I really like them. I’ve owned the trikes, big blocks, small blocks and the SS models. So you could say I know the bikes pretty well. Your comments are 100% accurate about these machines and it’s good to see someone else who isn’t making fun of those of us who happen to be fortunate enough to own them and appreciate them for what they are. In my opinion they are a motorcycle that’s in a class all by itself. It looks like you get what I’m saying. Hope you keep riding for many years.

That statement is fake news. The world of motorcycles crosses all national borders. There have been car-engined motorcycles in many places. Some are one-offs, some were regular production models. Off the top of my head I can name the following production models: Brough Superior with an Austin engine built in the UK, the Amazonas with a VW engine built in Brazil, the BFG and MF, two French brands that used Citroen motors. Then, there's Allen Millyard, the king of one-offs, over in the UK who built himself a beautiful bike around a Viper V10 and for good measure a V-Twin using two cylinders off of an aircraft radial engine. He has his own YT channel: kzbin.info

I once saw an ad for the Triumph Rocket 3 that said "So you bought a 1,000cc motorcycle, how cute". I thought that if I were the chief of Boss Hoss and I saw that, the ads for Boss Hoss would say "So you bought a 2,300cc motorcycle, how cute" and I'd make sure Triumph saw them. As for the bikes themselves, I've seen these with 572 ci engines. Much as I love bikes and tons of power, when a bike gets to be this big (and the trike even more so) you may as well drive a car. You like being in the wind, having tons of power, making lots of noise, and having people notice you so not just any car, but a T-bucket. Think about it, you don't need a special licence, you don't need to wear a helmet and other riding gear like jacket and boots, your wife sits beside you rather than behind so you can talk as you go along, you can eat and drink as you drive and you have a roof over you if it rains. A T-bucket has very limited luggage space as cars go but about the same as the bagger, and no chance of it falling over. Here's the kicker, a T-bucket can have any engine you like. It wouldn't weigh much more than the trike and can out-accelerate any car on the road and if you really want to out-accelerate a Boss Hoss, put a blower on it and have 900 hp.

In the late 1960’s wanted to buy a Munch Monmouth! The bike used a NSU four cylinder car engine! Malcomb Forbes of Forbes Magazine was the distributor! The showroom in Atlanta was for fitting the bike to your body! Yes, they measured your arms, hight, weight, rear end and leg length so the bike fit the rider! My 30 minute demonstration ride sold me! Expensive it was, but what a bike! Twin head lights, incredible smooth shifting and enough power to any driving situation! It was hand made basically in Germany! The company failed, but refunded my money! The reason it failed was the builder was a German perfectionist and took his time to build each bike one by one! It wasn’t gliztzy but really incredibly beautiful and practical! There are still a few in the US running about!
