But you are either deceived or deceiving by calling it a massacre. Hamas deliberately provoked Israel into a counter attack by committing atrocities--beheading babies, violently raping women, burning people in their homes. And they, by all accounts, hide within and below schools, hospitals, mosques, always among Gazan civilians. There is no genocide--only what Hamas attempts against Israel by firing thousands of rockets at civilians, invading, murdering, beheading babies, raping women. The UN partitioned Palestine into a Jewish and Arab territory in 1947. Israel formed a nation, the Palestinians didn't. Israel was attacked by 5 Arab states--but won. East Jerusalem and the West Bank were taken over by Jordan, and Gaza remained under Egyptian governance. When Israel was forced to fight the Arab nations again in 1967, Israel won the West Bank, the Golan Heights from Syrian, Gaza and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. In 1978 Israel returned the Sinai to Egypt as part of a peace agreement, which still holds. In 2005 Israel pulled out of Gaza, leaving it under Palestinian control. Elections brought Hamas to power in Gaza. The Palestinian Authority governs the West Bank, while Israeli settlements there are under Israeli governance. The Palestinians could have had a state in 2000, but they would not accept it. Israel is not apartheid--the 20% the State of Israel that is Arab have rights, freedoms, all the benefits that Arabs elsewhere do NOT enjoy.
