OK it is sunday and I need to use my tractor. All the shops are closed. What are my choices? Tire plug didn't work, Patch didn't work, Tire SLIME worked. I have my equipment back in service, making money. Ya ok so the shop will charge more to repair the tire. So what! Things like this happen and we need a quick and easy fix.

Hi, Just make sure they don't add it into the shop supplies fee. Sometimes they will put extra charge in there as they will use more towels and cleaner . You will not know it since a base charge is usually like $10-$15 . So most people overlook it as they don't know what that charge is for

Slime isn’t a quick and easy fix - it’s added security and has helped a lot of people in dire circumstances. Doesn’t matter if tire shops don’t like it.
@JasonYouTube
@JasonYouTube 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it doesn't matter but they will charge more to do the job compared to a tire that doesn't have it. Most people are forced to pay the extra fee because they can't change it themselves . So the $9 quick fix will cost an extra $25-$35 in labor when tires are replaced. Like if someone changes their own oil and screws up the filter , a shop will charge labor rate to fix that screwed up filter. They won't just charge the flat oil change price if someone messes up the filter. So need to think of that before putting slime in your tires so people won't be shocked at added fee for cleaning tire, Thanks for comment

Mechanics are always quietly tacking on a bunch of bogus made-up crap to charge you for and will try to make it sound like it was a requirement in order for them to complete the original task you went there for in the 1st place. This has been widely documented and recorded by private investigators, journalists, undercover police, private citizens, etc. etc… You can find videos on the topic of sheisty mechanics right here on KZbin in fact.

So you want me to be stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire so you don't have to use a $100 pressure washer and 5 minutes to clean it up? Gee, let me think, stranded on the side of the road for hours or a small inconvenience to a tire shop? Okay I'm going with the slime. Guess what? I bought my own tire machine because I got tired of shops complaining, charging, putting tires on wrong and damaging rims. Yes, that's right, I would rather spend $2k so I can change my own tires.
@JasonYouTube
@JasonYouTube 11 ай бұрын
Ya you can do that but most people only buy 16 tires in their whole life! So wouldn't make sense to buy a machine because each tire would be over $120 extra to pay off that machine . So now you need to buy a balancer also , so looking at about 5k for both machines. Usually shops charge about $30 per tire to change and balance , so someone can do over 170 tires and still not pay off the machines.
@stickman-1
@stickman-1 11 ай бұрын
@@JasonKZbin Well I do have 13 vehicles and we buy tires for at least 2 of them per year. We also have summer tires and winter tires for at least 2 vehicles. As for balancing, we are using the balancing beads. So far so good. Shops around here charge $40 for mounting/balancing plus $5/tire for the city. If I do it myself I'm allowed to take my old tires to the dump for free. Also, and this is the major reason, I'm sick of people not doing a good job. Most of my tires are directional and I've had shops put them on backwards only to have to go back and get it corrected. That was the last straw for me.
@JasonYouTube

@stickman-1 I totally agree , doing it yourself is only way you know that it is done right. ONLY if your smart enough as most people don't take pride in their work and would rather do a quick hack job.

Correct. Fees are over a dollar a minute, and some whiney mechanic gets all butthurt because the 83 year old woman was helped on the side of the road by someone who had some tire slime. What a prime example of why there are no more mechanics since now they are just self-grandizing parts changers with pissybritches. I miss the days of motor heads.

Well what about this scenario. Thet quote you for a brake job over phone, but you decided to try it yourself and cross thread the caliper bolts. Now the shop needs to take extra time to fix what you did, do you think they should charge more for it? All shops would because it's not the standard. Using slime is not standard practice. Depending on what you do, if someone makes more work for you, do you just eat the extra time? I doubt you would

Is it better for tire with a tube inside like classic and adventure motorcycles? You can ride on a rope 5000 km without any problems, but I doubt with this stuff inside. Do I need to buy a new tire each time or only another tube?
@JasonYouTube
@JasonYouTube Жыл бұрын
They make a Tire &Tube formula, so you would need that for tubes. It has smaller particles to plug up holes. If your tire is leaking due to dry rot or non hole leaks, then replacing tire is best bet for safety. If you have a hole, patch it then use tube

@JasonYouTube
@JasonYouTube 3 жыл бұрын
If you hose most off, you will need to make sure to dry the inside of tire and rim , so your looking at more then 15 minutes! If you don't dry out tire and rim, then you will have a rusted out rim in 3 years. So wiping off is the most pratical way as you will need to wipe and dry it after using a hose. Either way ,using it in a car tire is a last resort .

Slime is AWESOME ! But Most people use WAY TOO MUCH ! Simply inject a Tiny amount & roll tire around until it faces down & let it do it's thing. After a few mins. If it hasn't sealed it up completely. Add a Tiny bit more. & I mean "TINY". Usually no more than twice will do it. And you will notice that you still have ( 90+% ) of the bottle left. You can verify what I'm saying by simply looking at these tires once they are removed. The puncture has long since been sealed but they still have a majority of the can sloshing around. Such a Waste. BUT ... they sell more Slime that way.

It don’t take 15 minutes take to grass and then use paper towels. Sure that’s a big ass wheel. But it’s biodegradable so it’s fine to dump in grass or down drain. Now fix a flat is nasty shit as it dries once air hits it. Causing it to hardens like epoxy.

But then you need to let the tires air out or else you will have water / moisture in your rim and what does that mean? Means your rims will rust out from inside out where its not painted on the inside! So now you need to pay the shop x- amount of time to fully dry out the tire before mounting. So it is biodegradeable , but now you just added more time to basically have them watch water dry. Now if you do it yourself, doesn't matter , as you can walk away to let them dry. So for a tire shop, it means more money

@@BlasTicity Car tires it is rare to have slime in them , but small lawnmower tires they charge extra or just reject them when they break the bead and see it. Not worth the $10 for labor and $20 for tube. Extra 5 minutes is an extra $8-10 lost if labor rate is $100-120 an hour. So for 4 tires , thats 20 minutes which is $40 lost in labor vs tires without slime. Some shops don't want to deal with it and have the chance it may come back if the bead doesn't seal ( If they don't tube and just patch) due to slime
