Thanks for this. I enjoyed. I confess had a little giggle at the toothbrush cut in half and the five power packs. :D

I love a lengthy gear check. Bit of a chuckle over the cut-down toothbrush when you've got the massive steel chain 😆

Light weight warm vegan slpg bag option is the Mountain Hardwear Lamina series bags. The 0c bag packs pretty small and is roomy.

Hey Matty, another great video!! I loved the in-depth gear review and will probably end up with the same tent. Still got to decide on Bags but the apidura look good. I'd love to see how you managed to fit all that in your bags.
@Matty.Freedom3 жыл бұрын
You know I almost included that in the video. But I thought it was a bit long. Hopefully you can work it out from the vlogs
@Matty.Freedom3 жыл бұрын
Tent is good. I hear the new apidrua bags are waterproof whereas mine are not. I would highly recommend waterproof even if it weights more. I've had those wet through a couple of times now. The tent on the other hand is a huge win for the price.
@chadpaff84163 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info ill definitely go for the waterproof bags. Would you recommend panniers for the trip or rear bikepacking bag?

For a sleeping bag, I would highly recommend Enlightened Equipment. For the temperatures you are talking about I would go with the Revelation Apex quilt (no zipper), but they also have one with a zipper, the Convert. For the Revelation, go a size wider than you think you need to prevent drafts. I have the 50 degree (10 degree celsius) Revelation Apex, in long wide, and have been happy down to it’s rated temperature. Weight is 12.2 oz / 346 grams. It’s my go to sleeping bag for late spring thru early fall in Kansas, but I think you would want to go with the 40 or 30 degree version. Note that Enlightened Equipment also has one called the Enigma. I’m not a fan of the overly deep foot box, because I like to wrap the quilt around me when I’m sitting up in the tent at times, and the deep foot box makes that pretty much impossible. Lots of people seem to like the Enigma though, it just comes down to personal preference.

Thanks for the detail Gary. I'll check them out now. I might get one for my next solo tour.

Just had a look. I've heard good things about quilts. These look great. The choice range is insane. Think they are worth the 190?
@gfelkner3 жыл бұрын
@@Matty.Freedom To steal a quote, you can have inexpensive, lightweight, and warm. Pick two, because you can’t have all three. It’s a tough call with synthetic, because the long term durability of the loft is going to be much less than that of a down bag, despite what the manufactures marketing may tell you. For me it’s worth it, but I may only use it 15 nights a season, and between trips I can store it unstuffed. I have had mine for 3 years, and expect many more years of use. In your circumstances, it probably won’t last many years. There are plenty of quality less expensive options such as the Kelly bag I will link below. It would last just as long as the Enlightened quilt at half the price, the main trade off is that it’s twice as heavy and twice as bulky as the Enlightened Equipment option. Only you can decide which factors are more important to your circumstances,. www.amazon.com/Kelty-Cosmic-Synthetic-Backpacking-Sleeping/dp/B082P6PZ6N/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5auGBhDEARIsAFyNm9FB8IJiMWJ6-s36grIkzENaAjmtQ9AGMxfxURzXNuoLbe-xDFdletoaAqSlEALw_wcB&hvadid=499699982339&hvdev=t&hvlocphy=9023906&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=11557788560427996906&hvtargid=kwd-302929601742&hydadcr=2870_9916070&keywords=kelty+synthetic+sleeping+bag&qid=1623931774&sr=8-5

Damn I wish I could have all three. I'll check out the Kelly bag. Thanks for the detail. I can be a bit tight with money. I'll see how I go. I got a double sleeping bag for myself and my girlfriend on our next tour for about $20 lol. I have a feeling it's the worst of both worlds.

Cheers for posting. I'm starting South to North E2E next Sunday, have really enjoyed your vids. Quick Q - how'd you go for showering on the trip?
@Matty.Freedom3 жыл бұрын
So there are free warm showers in Dwellingup, cold showers in Collie, and warm showers at the woman's rest centre in Albany. I also showered at my mum's in Pemberton. I recommend washing off every night with the tank water. That was enough to keep me clean... Mostly
