Megan, for the dress that shrunk in the dryer.....you can soak the dress in baby shampoo. It helps to relax the fibers. After you soak it for about half an hour, squeeze out the water DO NOT RINSE the soap out! Roll into a towel to get the majority of the water out. Then stretch the fabric. The dress should be still very wet. Lay flat but every couple of hours stretch it a bit more.

My favorite maternity skirt right now is from inherit! Ps, you MIGHT be able to fix the dress you shrunk. Wash it and then hang dry it, usually you'll get a little bit of that length back! Worth a shot.

I am a plus size and 5'9" and LOVE maxi skirts and long sweaters, and maxi dresses. They really flatter my body. If a dress is shorter, I wear really soft leggings. People probably think I look weird but I am always super comfortable. I am a Jane Austen reader and I just feel very feminine in dresses. The Army outfit was the hardest part about being in for 5 years (those outfits were so unflattering). So I am making up for it with pretty dresses.

The fashion videos you do are wonderful. Super fun. I also mostly wear dresses. Sometimes skirts too, but mostly dresses. I'm not comfortable in pants at all unless it is leggings under my dresses and skirts for warmth in winter. Maxi dresses are the best! Even at 4'11 I adore them. How you explained how you view body positivity was perfect. I feel the same way. I'm all for someone loving the body they were given. It's a gift that should be cherished, nourished and cared for. I do feel as someone with scoliosis that a positive body image is important. It has taken me years to learn to love and accept my curve "scoliosis curve". I show I'm thankful for the body I was given by keeping myself healthy. That being said, I'm really not into the whole body positive movement. Like you, I'm in a place of neutrality.

I'm in my mid-40's, I think you've got a fabulous sense of style, even if it's not necessarily things I would wear. I prefer dresses to skirts & a top, but it's hard to find dresses that are age appropriate and not too short or too low cut, especially as I'm plus size. My go to outfits tend to be a jean skirt (midi or maxi) and a tshirt. I could definitely be a bit classier lol, my look is definitely "middle aged mom".

What a great video! Please excuse me if your religion/modesty doesn't allow it, but with the empire waist dresses the first thing I thought was, if you got like a cool belt to transition them from maternity wear to no-pregnancy, you could really cinch them in differently and change up the entire look of them. Would work with the cardis as well potentially, depending on length? Love that you advocate for less waste in fashion.

I don't know how you nurse and/or pump in a full dress? The pregnancy side great! I follow several Mennonite videos and they often talk about Boho decor, and you mentioned Boho style clothing. What does "boho" mean?
@elizabethm33273 жыл бұрын
So... I was raised wearing jeans. My mom wore them day in, day out and all 4 of her daughters followed suit. I can remember asking her why we wore pants over skirts, and she said that she considered pants to be more modest because they covered more skin, and you never had to worry about pants flying up and exposing you as you went about daily activities. So, I guess what I'm asking is this: how do you consider a skirt to be more modest? I understand that there is also the idea of the distinction of dress between the sexes, but wasnt there a time when everyone wore a robe-like garment anyways? Anyone with two cents, please reply. [And please don't anyone read this with a snarky voice. I certainly don't mean for it to be taken that way. lol]

I had boy & girl twins and gained so much weight (35 pounds 115 to 150). Now I am 10 pounds heavier and it will not budge. I went up one whole size. I've been sewing dresses that are maxi length. I got some linen from fabric-store and some 6 ounce cotton denim. I'm making a kind of boho, slip on, everyday dress kind of like that rust colored one with floral that you had on. You're so right! I do feel more feminine and they are as comfortable as a nightgown! I don't think I'll ever go back to jeans! QUESTION: This is just something I have been dying to know but have been afraid to ask on other channels of Mennonites. You seem like you could handle it. If you follow the Bible literally enough to wear a dress and cover your head, how come you wear polyester and other synthetic fabrics when the Bible states to wear linen or wool but not to mix them or something like that? Is that an allegory or metaphor or literal? Sorry but I really just want to know. Thanks. You look great and I hope your hormones level out soon. (Mine too!). My husband is cooking dinner for the whole month of January so I can make 10 dresses quickly! Talk about a capsule wardrobe or uniform.
@mrs.penner90483 жыл бұрын
I have never read that part in the Bible yet or just understood that differently. I too wear dresses and cover my head. Could you please tell me where I can find that passage? I have heard that cotton is better to wear health wise but had never heard of it being a biblical thing too.
@illustr8life8633 жыл бұрын
@@mrs.penner9048 Hi, I'm no expert so I did a quick search and these are the first two responses. I wish I had time to thumb back through my bible where I highlighted it. If I do, I'll be sure and put it here. It actually doesn't mention synthetics as there was no such thing I guess. Leviticus 19:19 “You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material. Deuteronomy 22:11 You shall not wear cloth of wool and linen mixed together.

@@illustr8life863 Same here, modesty is what I feel is important. I have never felt that I did wrong if I wore polyester or a mixed fabric. But I found it interesting that it had never caught my attention before. Thanks for the verses!

Just my interpretation... We are no longer bound by the old testament commands because Jesus came to save us from those. The head covering command is in the new testament which we are expected to obey. We are not necessarily called to exclusively wear dresses and skirts as women, but we are called to be modest and feminine. That is not defined explicitly in the Bible, but I don't think that what the majority of women wear nowadays can be called modest. This is just my research and opinion, so I encourage you to study the Bible and see what the Lord is telling you.☺️

I love you and your videos and have watched a lot of your fashion videos. Just wanted to ask you to consider stop saying something makes you look "fat", "fluffy" or "chunky". I understand that some shapes aren't as flattering as others but maybe change the language you use to describe that. As someone who struggles with self esteem and is considerably larger than you I twinge a little everytime I hear you say it. Especially with your daughter getting older I think it's important to encourage her to love the way God created her and use better language.
