How to escape from a situation when someone is grabbing or pulling your hair.
I have here Mariposa, and have basically two ways I can pull, if I put my hand on top of her head and I pull toward myself, or if I pull her to the side. This is the second way.
It doesn't matter what scenario. If she does that, the first reaction should be, please, grab my hair.
It would be just put my hand on top of her. That's it. That's the first thing. Why? If she tries to pull me, now I'm safe.
The problem when you don't do that is that pulling the hair, when you don't do that, I can pull her hair. I can move her hand. But when I pull that, I cannot pull the hair. I will move her head, but not the hair.
That is the first thing we need to remember. She tried to pull my hair, boom, immediately I try to put my hand on top.
After that, I'm going to punch her arm. Three fingers when she flexes her arm. I'm going to see three fingers on the inside. This little spot, a very sweet spot to hit. When she grabs me, I'm going to hit her.
At the same time, I'm going to knee her. Boom. Again, she grabs me, boom, boom, this is one, two. Again, one, two. Again. One, two.
It works the same way when I move to the side. In this case, I'm going to be the attacker. I'm going to do, very slowly, the same thing. Try to pull her, but she is going to put her hand on top of mine. That's the most important thing. Again, if I try to pull, she still has control of that.
Then, right away she's going to punch this spot. She can punch this way, I'm going to put it on this side so you can see the punch too, punch exactly this way or you can use your knuckles, very safe. Exactly that point, where again, this is the line of deflexion. Three fingers up. The fourth would be this spot.
Do it again. Boom. Nice. Do it again. Boom. Nice. If I'm grabbing her side, the same concept.
After that, knee, boom, to the groin. Again, boom, nice. One more time, boom, nice.
That's how you escape safely from a self-defense position when someone is trying to pull your hair.

Bad idea... Surviving a street attack isn't funny, you're not in a movie, you can get badly injured or even killed, don't overestimate yourself and specially if you expect to be able to do something you never trained under high level of stress.

This works if someone has a low pain tolerance. Simple self defense is fine if someone is joking and takes it a little too far but ineffective if someone is really trying to hurt you. When I look for proper self defense, there has to be an aspect of the defender shifting focus to overwhelming their opponent. This is actually a little irresponsible

I generally suggest banging the piss out of the ribs on the body, with a left hook, bringing them in close is good, landing a good shot on the liver can end a fight. You can bang the liver until the arm goes down to protect it then come over the shoulder and finish it. If it needs to go that far. Or just don't let someone that close to you.

Angela Biersack A girl grabbed my hair, entangling her fingers in it and I tried to grab her hands and just untangle them. But wasnt working. Most important thing is to stay calm, which i did. So, i decided to calmly back up to where I had more space to move, pulling her along with me, by my own hair she was tangled in. Then I stand up straight, not being able to see past my hair. I reach up to put her in a clinch and I pull her head down to my knee. I knee her in the face over and over until her hands loosen, arms go limp, and she let go because I was knocking her unconscious. There is always a counter to a counter to a counter, and nothing is foolproof completely. Just practice because that's the only chance you got is to go like its instinct. Learn the clinch, its very helpful as well as grappling if you end up on the ground so that its still not over even if she has your hair. If you don't already know this...

It is very difficult once they grab your hair. A big mistake is to try and pull away, because you can't . One thing you can do is go towards your opponent and grab them and try a takedown on them and then mount. Of course it's hard to explain just by writing about it.

That seems like a really complicated way of escaping the easiest thing in the world to defend against. The way I was taught is simple as. Reach inside the attackers arms, clinch your elbows, and pull their head down, then knees to head or take them for a ride...whatever you wanna do. It's super easy, and works on everyone. I'm 125 and I have no problem escaping and controlling my 215 lbs. coach with this method. I train BJJ and Muay Thai, maybe it's just different. To each his own.

It won't be in slow motion.....I was attacked and my attacker was extremely fast and I just ran away as quickly as I could ... If you are cornered say in a room give yourself distance and let the other person know that he/she is getting too close and to stay back - physical distancing is always safest bc it gives you time to run, they cannot grab you as quickly

Own and carry a double action revolver, in one motion, present it, get your head as low as possible/drop to the floor by moving your body forward, this should expose enough of your attacker to be able to shoot.

Very late response but what my instructor thought me is that if they grab your ponytail from behind, then grab/hold the hand (that's pulling it) firmly. Then with your other hand, try to grab the elbow of the one holding the hair and push the elbow forward. They'll let go or you'll either break his arm. After that, kick him in the shin/knees and run for it

Yeah, like you'll have time for all this or your assailant is going to be that far from you. This hair pull is like the *perfect* setup for a throw, a Judokas wet dream. Grab her arm with one hand on the elbow and one behind the opposite side of the neck, pull pull her to the side opposite of the neck hand while pushing her neck towards there and downward, then position your leg behind hers and feed them some dust.

I think after the punch in the arm and leg it makes the one grabbing hold release the grip, if not then atleast made them weaker at which point you try the finger release method for your hair cus I take it they will be in pain and grip will be loose at this point stick your index finger into their hand and start releasing each finger of theirs

My mom always does this out of no where. She's a whole lot taller than me so I always pinch her arms and use my full weight to sit on her feet and interlock my legs with hers so she can't kick me. I typically avoid biting (even though I want to) because it makes me vulnerable and I can't see where her legs or arms are going as well so I have resorted to growing out my nails and sharpening a few of them to a point so she'll release my head when she grips it too hard. I lose a lot of hair in the process but at least I don't get kicked in areas where it REALLY hurts. If anyone can give any advice to prevent me losing half a head of hair that would sure mean a lot.

I don't find this useful. Generally when someone grabs your hair, they grab at the back of the head. Your head gets pulled forward and down, and you 1) can't see much more than the ground and feet 2)have to reach behind you to grab his hand and most women will have very little strength to hold on that way 3) You tend to get pulled forward, and won't be able to get a knee far enough forward and up to do any damage at all 4)if you are grabbed from behind and pulled over backwards none of the techniques in the video will do much good. These will only work when grabbed from the front, by a handful of hair, by someone who isn't really trying to seriously hurt you.

i saw another vid where this guy said to put both your hands on the hand holding your hair, keep your elbows down so they are in front of your face (THIS blocks the uppercut), and twist in the direction of her elbow (to the outside of her arm or whatever) so now her arm is twisted. This seems quite delusional to me , ?? It may work if your assailant only has one arm and has no use of her or his legs . In a REAL situation your assailant is going to be moving and dragging you around , not just standing there , the chances of landing a heavy blow on the inside of her arm are minute and you have given up the use of your other arm while holding your own head ?? The REAL answer to this is speed and aggression, your oponaent has given up the use of one hand buy holding your hair , she will now be using HER other hand to punch or gouge you, it is VERY IMPORTANT that as soon as she grabs your hair you keep your head up and either with both hands let the punches fly or grab your opponent somewhere high to steady yourself and let loose with your free hand , aggression and speed will win the day if neither are properly trained . Learn how to punch properly will be a huge advantage

I'm going to use this against the b in my school which often pulls my friends hair and when i try to stop her she pulls my hair ( btw, i sent this video to my friend so she could defend herself ) (ps. I'm going to wait when the b attacks us and I'm going to let you know what happened )

well, it was my birthday and i was at a resort with my family, i see a baby on like a not deep part of a pool and i go to her to make her happy and cheer her boring face up, when i try to set her down, she grabs my hair and starts pulling it and i dont know what to do and while shes laughing and pulling out my hair, im just panicking because shes like 4 i dont know if i can defend myself. she ends up pulling out like 40% of my hair and after that she fake cries to get my brothers attention and ofc i get scolded. i dont have the courage to explain it because i dont wanna cause conflict.

Most hair grab the attacker grabs the hair violently and drag your head down and your getting punched in the face. try striking the arm like that in a real self-defense situation motor skills breakdown.

Streets fights are NOTHING like in this video. You have to be more realistic. Street fights are spontaneous and mad wild. The moves in this particular video are more suited for inside the Octagon in an MMA bout or UFC because they are more technical than a street fight with absolutely no rules.

This will not work in a legit hood fight. Girls dont pull hair and stand still. They pull hair WHILE they're quickly backing up and throwing punches to the head at the same time.
