CA has very strict labor laws, they don’t mess around. You can claim up to 30 days, each day your daily wage of 8 hrs, that’s if you don’t get your final check.

Same thing happens to me! My former employer owes me $1,500 in unpaid wages. Not only that but she stole my belongings which was valued at another $1,500 when I was on vacation with my family. She said the stolen property would come in the mail, but surprise! It didn't. Apparently slavery is still an acceptable practice in 2019.

You should take legal action against her. She had absolutely no right to steal your belongings or your paycheck. Just check your state’s laws and talk to a lawyer before doing anything.

So I’m from Illinois and it is law here if an employer illegally withholds your pay check it’s an automatic misdemeanor and the interest starts accruing from the moment your check was illegally withheld. For example here if you quit your job and did not give a two weeks notice they cannot withhold your check. If you have to bring back the uniform and you signed a letter stating they will dock or withhold from your last check they still need to seek permission from you to withhold and if they do interest behind and it’s a misdemeanor violation. However the company can still sue you for not bringing back property.

My boss be littered me and treated me like I was a student and called me slow. It was my first day on the job. I gave it a week and I decided that the job wasn’t for me. She mailed off my check and didn’t give me a chance to pick it up. When I got my check I did the mobile bank deposit. My bank has been calling her to verify it and nobody is complying and random people answer and don’t know what to do. She won’t answer her cell phone either and she is dodging my calls and text. I’m from Houston Texas and in the medical field. This is unprofessional and pathetic. I’m a single mother. What do I do? I never been through this before! 😩

I went to the job one morning when it first opened and I said I needed to speak to HR for the main owner of the company because nobody is complying with my bank and I worked and you paid me so I need to speak to somebody they can handle this or else I will hire a lawyer and sue for mental Discrimination

I demanded that I spoke to a manager and I was not there to cause any problems nor was I there to retaliate I just simply wanted to get everything solved so she went ahead and got a hold of HR and had HR come out and talk to me at the stand right there and make sure she did everything right and when I told HR everything what happened what was said how I was treated she acted like she didn’t care either I reported them to the Better Business Bureau

There's a government office called hours and wages that's who you call it's against federal and state law to not pay you on your designated payday, work off the clock , not paying you overtime over 40 hours. You don't need to get a lawyer you just call that government office they handle everything.

Texts emails and phone calls off the on work related issues you're supposed to be paid for that so save them it adds up quickly. And if you receive a shift differential you're supposed to be to pay time-and-a-half on that too. I'm owed about $7,000. And if you get fired for it the labor department has your back with that anti-retaliation law.

If they still refuse to pay you look up the federal labor department's there will be a phone number to the office near you call that number and file a claim you'll get your money. The company will be fined. It's against federal law to withhold a paycheck for any reason.
