I had a hypoglycemic attack at work, and my co-workers all stood around confused as I asked them to fetch me some sugar or candy. I was like, I'm the one having the medical emergency but why are you all stunned and panicked to the point of not actually helping???!? Where were the jellies!!! Thankfully one of my co-workers who happened to have a diabetic son, ended up walking into this scene of me sweating and my eyes starting to roll around and she immediately ran and got me some candy. I definitely started carrying glucose tabs at all times on me after that nightmare.

I had this symptoms for around 20 years, sometimes almost completely losing consciousness only because I didn't eat something. I explain to the GP doctors 3 times and they never know what's that. They send me for a blood test [but never check the sugar] and say that I just might be little bit anemic. They spend so many years in those medic school and are not able to even learn basic symptoms for diabetic. I had to learn myself how to come to mine own rescue based on years of experience. Actually, eating something sweet makes me seek and it's kind of "too late" thing. The best thing is juice. It takes many hours [sometimes 3 days, depends how sever is the episode] to recover. For so many years I can't never let myself go hungry and as time progress it gets worse.

You should maybe seek out a specialist who literally deals with this all day long rather than your GP or at the very least specifically request a blood sugar test.

About 4 weeks or so ago (give or take a few), I was told that I had type 2 diabetes, most likely insulin-resistant & that my blood glucose was up to "50" ... though I'm not entirely sure what that means, except that it was enough for the doctors to put me on a tablet that I've been taking since. What makes me nervous is that I've just heard one of my English relatives had a diabetic seizure of some kind & hers was ALSO at roughly 50 (but has since gone down to 20-something). There is a few differences between me & her, though. Being extremely obese (last time I saw her she was easily twice my size), she doesn't get out as much as I can & I believe she over-eats, just like her dad used to; whereas I only eat 1 meal a day. I don't feel any early warning signs, though (so I assume it only happens when you're as unhealthy as my cousin). At least I hope so; & hopefully the tablet brought my glucose levels down since they last tested me. I really don't want to be as ill as my cousin is... 😥

@hzlin30052 жыл бұрын
unfortunately, no. the best we can do is to monitor their signs and symptoms. treatment for moderate to severe diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) involves IV fluids, insulin, correcting electrolyte imbalances, and acid-base balance, as well as any other treatment needed e.g. if there's an infection. none of those can be given outside a hospital setting
