He agreed to help them making their own first. He didn't create the bomb itself but the tech, it is true, but it doesn't make any difference in this situation. They asked for the tech to create a deadly weapon, he provided the tech knowing it could kill and they manufactured a weapon using this tech. Later on, he said it was his biggest mistake.

You forgot a really important part. When you’re showering, DO NOT USE CONDITIONER. It binds the particles to your hair and scalp and would make showering pointless. You can use soap and shampoo, just make sure you don’t use conditioner.

I remember when I first started worrying about not having a basement and not knowing how to farm or hunt for after nuclear bombs might drop or some other disaster. My dad cheerfully reminded me that the both of us are on medication we need to survive, so if a nuclear bomb drops, we’ll die long before we need to worry about how to take care of ourselves. I was wondering the same thing. I assume you wouldn't, well at least not for long? Because most metals when used as an exterior can absorb shock pretty well. But I'm sure it would absorb any hazardous chemicals the nuclear bomb exudes? I'm no expert, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but yeah, that's just my theory. Edit: okay, so according to my research, basically all material can absorb the photons in radiation, especially metal, making it a bad idea to stay in. But, there's apparently a metal called "high-Z-steel steel" composed of stainless steel and a little tungsten, too. It can withstand all three types of radiation (I assume that being gamma, beta and delta rays). I also know that Radiologists shield themselves behind glass during observations, so I assume that would be the best material for the lining of a bombshell? All glass are okay, but an ideal would be a green laminated glass to act as a barrier against the radiation.

If you go to a bank, even if it's closed down or whatever you're not going to be able to open the safe without a key. If anything I'd go to a walk in of a restaurant. There's food and water, and a large heavy door... to block off radiation. Or in the parking garage underneath a building. But you'd have to make sure to bring your own food. You'd survive the blast, and then have to wait a couple of weeks.
