What to do if you CAN'T DRAG AUDIO into FL Studio

For anyone still having problems with this. You might be dragging samples directly from a zipped folder. Copy or cut them into a new folder and voila ! It solved it for me.

My Problem: Converted my file to both .mp3 and .wav but Fl studio still wouldnt let me drag and drop my file. Administrative box was unchecked and I did not successfully locate the user folder mentioned in the forum. SOLUTION: Left click file that you're trying to drag on Fl studio -> Select "open with" -> Select FL studio. Afterwards open FL studio -> click "add" button -> click audio clip -> select "my files" -> select "my samples" TADA you should see the file. I was so excited when this method worked for me, hope it helps someone else. Happy creating yall.

Seen a few comments about people still not being able to drag & drop files but when they do it imports the file but you can only see a very small line.... I believe this is some type of glitch or w.e if the file your trying to drop is an mp3 try converting it to a wav file. this immediately fixed my issue. In the past I've never had issues with mp3 files but with the most recent update mp3 & mp4 files don't seem to work. Hopefully this fixes your issue!!!!

I got another solution! Check that sample or mp3 file's name and folder's name! It should be readable properly and make sure it has simple title! Example : If your folder name is "SAMPLE_PACK_FREE_Trap_Beat" then it won't work because FL couldn't read properly the folder's title! Same goes with the mp3 file name, if that file's name is also unreadable then fl studio won't let you drag it! So change the folder and sample's name to readable like "Sample Pack Free Trap Beat" or "Sample.mp3"

The iPhone default file type is not compatible with FL studio. You have to convert it to a different format like .wav to work. Hope that helps.

So I have Run as Administrator turned off but I'm still having trouble. It seems to let me load some files onto a track in FL 20, but not others, even when they're the same filetype (MP3). It will let me open the tricky file on FL but won't allow it to be assigned to a track or play audio, instead just showing a greyed out name of the file on the bank to the left of the tracks. Been trying to find a solution but no luck yet. Anyone have any suggestions?

This is one solution. If you still can't drag files into FL, the file may need to be extracted from the folder it's in. Try that. If that still doesn't work, the file may be the wrong format. Simply fix it by changing the file type to an .mp3, .wav, or .m4a

YTmp3's have never worked with my FL either but yet i can still play them in windows. however they do work in Serato but not FL, i dont understand =[

Still didn't works for me (that's including people suggestions within comments section.) I'm going have to backup my fl studio 21 save project data ect. Than uninstall or update 1st once backup then if after updating didn't work then Unstalled fl studio once backup all my stuff on there. Then install fl studio 21 again. Perhaps that way it will finally works for me again. (As experience fl studio producer since late 2000s demo finally get into fl studio around mid 2010's this is the first time myself experience this issue. This year2023.)

Make sure you are in song mode first. Then make sure that what you are dragging in is in wav format.
