hay / straw tyre is very reasonable, but they did it rushed. if you're really stuck in middle of nowhere, then do this: 1) don't cut a big hole, make very small hole, just barely enough to stick stuff in 2) don't take the tyre off the car, just lift the car enough so tyre is barely touching the ground 3) now make sure the hole is on top and stick as much grass/hay/straws as you possible can 4) start the car and accelerate (assuming you don't have locked differential and not 4wd) and let the centrifugal force pack it even tighter 5) pack more grass/hay in tyre, you might wanna get something hard enough to hit the tyre with, so it will shake the grass/hay and make it compact even more. 6) if you can make a reasonable fire and direct it at tyre, you can melt the tyre enough to fix the hole up to a point that stuff won't fall out from it. i think if you spend like half a day on it, it will be almost as good as air filled tyre.

fishermen all over the place were shaking their heads at this one. no reel has ever caught on fire. but game fisherman do pour cold water over reels in a fight with BIG fish to just keep the running gear and line as cool as needed to prevent breakage and losing a big fish. and .....no REAL sport fisherman touched the drag during a fight...its already preset prior to dropping the lure to match the expected size of the target fish.

That's a trick we have been using here in Australia in the bush for a lot of years. whenever I have a flat tire and no spare that's exactly what I'll do. is fill it Fuller grass I drove 150 k's one time on a tyre filled with grass and did not miss a beat. yes it works and it works fucking well hardest parts is compacting enough grass in there and then putting the lip of the tyre back on once you do that you laugh.

Hmm... So, a myth about having flat tire in middle of nowhere and replacing them with improvised solutions, since purpose-made solutions are not available I guess. Plausible: Cutting a hole into the flat tire with knife, stuffing it with straw or local vegetation or whatever. We're probably talking about around 30 minutes of work here. Tires survives all stress tests, only failing at the very end, when driver purposefully decides to do a full wheelie with a flat tire, which puts insane amount of stress to the tire and breaks it. You could also cover the holes in the tire with something, or make the hole smaller. Confirmed: Cutting down a tree, turning it into a log, sizing it down a wheel size with chain saw or with the help of some kind of a power tool, bolting it down into the wheel hub/housing, THROUGH the log, which would probably require some special long bolts and nuts. Which seem to result in a bona fide "real" tire. I wonder... Which one of these myths would more "plausible" to do. I love this show. :D

@d4slaimless7 ай бұрын
Somewhat more than for carrying the tools they used to make wooden wheel. It is plausible for manhole cover to replace the wheel in a sense that it works. Nothing said about tools. Drill is just a one tool though and you can have it with you with a number of drills.

Carry a cigarette lighter adapted air compressor because a flat tire most likely means a puncture in the tread.. not slashed into the sidewall like they did (which is unrepairable) and you can find your leak and plug it with a stick and some pine sap; I've repaired an off-road tire that a guy plugged with a stick and sap and grass to get off the trail that was close to 3/4 inch large.

Swather tires often pick up deer antlers; sometimes best practice is to cut 'em flush and cover in rubber because the leak is also the plug when made air-tight.
