Being a parent is not a walk in the park, however it becomes a little frustrating if you feel the need to entertain your child who is on the autism spectrum for the entire day because they are very needy. I would like to know how do you cope with these kind of situations. Please leave me a comment below and let's chat!

If a child is overly clingy, is it a sign of autism? I actually was here looking for advice because my daughter is one and a half and is basically glued to me. I don’t mind picking her up but I was not aware it was another sign. The thing is is I am coming to a realization that I might be on the spectrum as well. And after realizing this and going through and trying to get help for it, I am realizing my daughter has a lot of the same symptoms I did as a child. We have not found some thing yet, that really works for us. I love my daughter but I do not have any time to myself or privacy. I’m not gonna blame it on her 100% because I also have two dogs that do not know what a personal bubble is and constantly follow me around all day as well. I am very happy that everybody thinks, I’m a good mom but at the same time it’s very exhausting. Never even having your own personal space. My daughter actually has been better about it than my dogs. I have no idea what to do about that one. I’m a stay at home mom so the only reason I could think that they are like this is because I am everybody’s primary caretaker.

Thank you for sharing Breanna! If you are able, you need to have your daughter assessed by a qualified professional (and you as well). Even though overly clingy can be a sign of autism, by itself it is not necessary the case therefore you need a professional involved that can make a proper evaluation. When she goes to bed, even if it for 10 minutes please watch a funny KZbin video or something that can pick up your spirit! Maybe eat your favourite treat or watch some movie trailers. Whatever it is EVEN if it is for 5-10 minutes daily, do it!

My son is two and nonverbal. He follows me everywhere and has to sleep on me.
