What to do if your kid wants to be a marine biologist

Yes , I have a daughter and we have been going to zoos and aquariums and beaches since she was born and she wants to be a marine biologist . So we went to clearwater aquarium she was told to volunteer alot. ( start her resume with volunteering due to her not being old enough to work ) she is so excited about she also is going to do a scuba camp this summer . I love this for her . I'm a proud mom . I too love the ocean and animals. I even have her do beach cleanups

This video made me cry. I only hope that my son says all these lovely things about me one day. He has been ocean obsessed ever since he was a babe in arms. He is 5 now, his hero is Jacques Cousteau and has told us that he wants to be a diver that helps clean the sea. We will definitely be following your videos. Thanks for your insight 😁

Thank you so much for this video. My son has loved wildlife and especially marine animals and their ecosystems since he could even express such an interest. He is 8 now and gets more and more passionate about the ocean as time passes. He told me this week he wants to be a marine biologist. I want to support him in any way I can. He is homeschooled and much of what he learns is focused on marine biology and oceanography. We currently live in an off grid travel trailer and are traveling the country (US). We have visited lots of aquariums and we are going on a whale watching boat tour soon on the east coast. It made me tear up hearing about how your own childhood experiences impacted you. I hope someday my son feels the same. I just want him to be able to fully follow his heart.

Love your videos, and I must say your parents did such a great job on supporting you all the way. My daughter loves the ocean and also science. I’ve have always ask her what she wants to study, And at 13 she’s still confused. Not sure why? I finally made her open her eyes at her love for the ocean and science. I asked her “why don’t you study marine biology?” Those are two things you really like. Her response was as any other teenager “wait, what, you can study that?” She’s finally have made up her mind on what she wants to study as a profession. And I want to support her as much as I can, just as your parents did to you. So I came across your video and I must say thank you so much for doing this. You don’t understand as a parent who doesn’t even know we’re to start. I know have a prospective view thanks to your video. I have taken her to aquarium’s around here, and she also does a jr. life guard program every summer. I will definitely start looking for some type of marine programs for her. Thanks again!
