I agree with Rick. If my goal is to produce vermicompost, I would let the mixed worms continue to work, but would definitely mention it publicly in case others didn't know they might get a mix. If I was breeding worms for sale, I would give the mixed worms to someone else, ask for a refund and purchase elsewhere. ~ Sandra

I bought most of my worms a few years ago from one of those that advertised them as red wigglers, that have now changed to calling them a red composting worm mix. What I received was about 90%+ blue worms and a very small number of red wigglers. I did not know the difference at the time. But once I did, I painstakingly separated out the red wigglers and bred them. The blues die very easily in any cold non tropical conditions. The true red wigglers survive.

Yes, and always go directly to the source. I sell bees and the middleman is never accountable for their sale they always just pass on the product and say it wasn’t me. Go to the source and know who you are buying from and what type of a person they are, make them back their product.

That's the problem with this day and age, No one is honest in what they sell. It's all about the $$$

Worm jerky 🤔🤢😂. False advertising is like the new business model these days.
@AJsGreenTopics8 ай бұрын
Worm Jerky happens when a worm has made the decision not to stay inside the bin. 🤣 You got that right. Thanks for stopping by.

If my steak was not steak i may get cranky. Worms are worms but i agree if i got not red worms i would put a bad review online or ask for nee worms.👍🏼🪱😀

I did buy red wigglers and thought i was getting pure stock but got a mix. I’m upset but I guess I did not know all red worms are loosely called red wigglers. SO, I guess my lack of knowledge was my fault HOWEVER I know now most people in this industry know what “red wigglers” really means. It’s too late for me now as my stock has grown to massive amounts but yes, once you have the mix, any cocoon from anywhere can contaminate a bin. I think a mix should be labeled as composting worms and not red wigglers. I do think a mix is better for diversity and increased soil health and microbial diversity possibly but some people like pure stock and should not be mislead with what they are buying.

I did not notice the difference when I purchased them many years ago. Now I have the knowledge to know the difference. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

Not happy with false advertising. Probably would not use them again and would let viewers know what to expect. But once you have them, Let them compost! 😁🪱
