I've been there several days in 2004 Was gorgeous. I have cycled there also and climbed 1 volcano. I hope that you will take a bicycle next time , better for the environment.

the humidity will kill you. I live on the coast near SJDS, playa Marsella. its not bad there. coast breeze, lower humidity the interior and Caribbean COOK !

i was in my car in panama, near bocas del toro and water was dropping off my rear view mirror. It was raining inside my car. the caribbean is good for vacation but I would never live there. san juan del sur, Nicaragua west coast is a much better choice for longer term.

Did you guys have trouble getting into the country at the airport?

No, just make sure you have all the correct documents. If flying into Nicaragua you need to get a PCR RT test, have it sent into the airline 36 hours before departure and still have the test good 72 hours before entry (this can be difficult to time out). You can also fly into Liberia, Costa Rica airport sometimes this is easier
