What To Do In ROATAN?? - Try a Private Island Tour!! (Carnival Mardi Gras Cruise)

Have you ever taken a private tour? You think it will be too expensive, right? Wrong! We had a full island tour, and the cost... $45 per person!!! We started out meeting our tour guide outside of the port and loading in the van. Just driving around the island was beautiful and he pointed out many places to us. The first stop was Manawakie Cultural Park which is also a sloth sanctuary.... this is what we were most looking forward to! We were given an introduction to the three-toed sloths and were able to hold them for as long as we liked! They also have monkeys and macaws that you can hold.
Want to know what is the best thing about a private tour? It is YOUR tour and the guide will customize it for you. We asked if there was a place where we could fly our drones and he delivered by taking us to a nice drive-on beach where we took flight. Next up are the chocolate factory and rum factory. Both were great experiences and we left with some yummy treats.
And what would an island tour be without a beach? The last official stop was Fosters West Bay Resort. The beach was beautiful and the sand was so soft... unlike the beach on Cozumel!! And the cool water was a nice break from the Caribbean heat. Again, what is great about the private tour is that we could stay as long as we wanted.
We were pretty hungry by this time and asked for a spot where we could get some good local food. We had to work for this meal as the restaurant was at the very top of a high hill with LOTS of steps, but it was so worth it! On the way back to port we had a couple of surprise spots when our guide took us to an overlook where we could view the amazing Carnival Mardi Gras... and fly the drone here too. Lastly, we were treated to some delicious local fruit drinks... and I mean DELICIOUS!! What an amazing day we had! We can 1000% recommend this tour when you next visit Roatan!!

We did the same tour only with Real Deal Roatan Tours, only company we use when visiting Roatan! Out of all the tours I ever took while cruising that was by far my favorite! Was Always on my Bucket List to hold sloth, they so cute feel like holding real baby, did I mention my favorite animal. I've done private tours in Dominica and in St. Kitts and they were probably the best excursions I've experienced! I feel like I learned more about the local culture, history and people and never felt rushed or crowded.

We did a similar tour there and loved it. That's the beach we were at. Our driver warned us about the never-ending vendors trying to sell things. We were also warned about the massage ones, because someones they have sticky fingers and may steel your wallet. He said if we sat in the second row of lounge chairs, we wouldn't be bothered as much. He was right. Also pretend to be asleep. I wasn't sure if we would like Roatan, but the sloths and the beach were amazing. The Carnival beach at the pier was far too crowded, so we wanted to try a private tour on our second time there.

Wow.... had I to re-watch this after reading about the recent death here. Absolutely heart breaking. I thought it was the same platform. Thank Goodness for Jason and his hesitation along with your encouragement to be safe and cautious. Last time we were in Roatan you were able to take a taxi down the hill for about $2 per person. When we returned the tour operator dropped us off in side the port

Thank goodness Jason did not jump from the high deck. I would not even have jumped from the lower one. You don't know what is below with rocks or how deep it is. Looks like an amazing tour BTW. The full monty of Roaton.
