BLOG POST - www.chopsticktravel.com/2017/0...
This is the start of a series where I will showcase the best things to do in Taiwan!
Honestly one of the more depressing/unique pastimes in Taiwan has to be indoor urban shrimp fishing. Surprisingly enough it is actually one of my favorite things to do here in Taiwan (what does that say about me?) I hope you like my take on it and if you're looking for more info and directions so you can have a go at it yourself check out our blog post.
THANKS FOR WATCHING :)
Thank you to Jay for writing the subtitles!

Your vblogs work for me bc you both are in them. Too often only one person does all the reviews of the foods. Secondly, I love how you edit and incorporate the great music to it. Really adds a good adventurous and sometimes cultural feel to the video. Keep up the awesome videos and eat/taste on my friends.

This is such a funny activity isn't it! We did the same thing when we were in Taipei. After an hour we'd only managed one shrimp haha. The guy working there felt so bad for us he gave us a handful of shrimp so we'd actually have something to cook. Score! Thanks for the great vid. Cheers, Thomas.

The first thing my Taiwanese friends took me to was shrimp fishing I was rather confused as fishing to me back home is something elderly men do, and we were all students... But it was actually really fun and relaxing in the summer (it was a kind of roofed pool with BBQ's/tables and not totally indoors) Like most places is probably varies where you go I guess, sucks you guys didn't catch so many!

Dude, I LOVE shrimp fishing in Taiwan! I'll have to dig around and find my (potato camera) video I made when we went last year and upload it to my channel. Also, we sat there for like 3 hours and only caught maybe 3 shrimp, so you guys did well! I'll be on the look out for a better shrimp fishing pool when we are in Taiwan again...a 1:1 ratio pool gets a little expensive lol.

hi, i am not rally sure about this, but i heard that the water is muddy for shrimps to live longer and is easier for people to catch them. btw you could choose pool color that are more clear or brownish, since you are eating them instead of gambling. blue or green color pool seems to have antibiotic in it. :)
@LukeMartin

hey I'm not exactly sure why but maybe you are right! Either way the shrimp were delicious :)

釣蝦的餌料如果太大(坨)顆,可以再剪更小顆一點。如果用蝦米釣,要先去頭去尾,最好在前一天晚上,先用米酒泡軟,比較好方便進食,可以縮短就餌的時間。

The price should be 600NT for 3 hours. The price also depends on the pool you are fishing in:male or female shrimp. The pool looks cloudy because they don't want the customer see how many shrimp is inside the pool. I also recommend you just use the body of baby shrimp for the bait. Maybe you can ask the people beside you next time, a majority of taiwaness people will gladly teach you. There have many little techniques that can allow you to catch more shrimp. You can send me a message if you want to go shrimp fishing next time. I can teach you. I love this video, thank you for you introduction of Taiwan shrimp fishing.

The guy who "released" prawns into the pond - is dishonest. He just threw the crate into the water and quickly tilted it. You never know how many prawn he released. It could be only 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ... etc.

Indoor shrimp fishing has been in Taiwan for decades. The pool seems not clean because owners put dirt in it on purpose, to make you unable to track a shrimp with your eyes.
@justt147

The price is based on the contents, I think maybe u got the rip off. some they even have lobster, but it's a big challenge for the newbie. I believe the reasonable price should be around 300 at the first hour and 200/hr from the second hour in Chiayi. U need to hide the hook by the little shrimp body which they provide, sometime u need to buy it. Sorry for my English level😅 hope u can understand what I want to explain.
