I definitely enjoy these strategy videos. It has made me look at my games differently and I have been able to frustrate my opponents a couple times. Helping me get out of the "go for it" mentality.

Superb. These sorts of situations come up all the time in games and it's easy to panic if you don't know what to do. I've lost count of the number of games I've thrown away just because I'd not thought about my opponents next move.

At 4:32 you commit a foul, the opponent has the cue ball in hand and 2 shots including 1 free, first behind the break line for the first: after moving the cue ball it is obviously possible to pocket at length the red or simply bring the red to the corner pocket and pocket the black. Your problem only works for the 8 ultimate pool rules..

Thanks for watching when I committed the Foul I was being the player on red balls at the time once I fouled whether you’re playing black ball rules or international rules yellows have the big advantage.

Hi Michael. Nicely explained. Makes you think a lot more about these tricky situations. Quick question. What size is your table? 6, 7 or 8ft?

@ Wow! I thought it was a 7 or 8ft! Camera is very deceptive. Still a lovely table. I have a 6ft too and sometimes find it difficult to transition to a 7ft when at the local pub. I know its only 12 inches but it does make a difference 🫡

If i have a chance at opening up a bad ball then im not playing safe. If my opponent has a dead ball, and i have 6 balls on the table, i see it as a free go at game. You have to back yourself to make the finishes. Every time you hand the table over to your opponent you are giving them an opportunity, even if they are snookered. You have to ask yourself, does ball in hand actually give better advantage than you currently have. i see many players play a snooker, get ball in hand, then play another snooker gaining no advantage.

It’s all about setting up the overall frame most players don’t actually understand when the right time to play a snooker and the right time to pull the trigger to make the out. In this situation you are handing over the table with minimal risk giving you a greater chance to win the frame because of the unique situation of playing the ball over the pocket and blocking the red.

@@MichaelScerri147 there are several considerations. 1. is there a reasonable chance of a finish. 2. is a safety shot going to improve your chances. 3. if your opponent gets out of the snooker and gets his ball into play, you now have to either find another safety or take out a finish with your opponent now in a better position to counter clear. 4. if you play negative when your opponent has a difficult finish, you may not get a better opportunity. The skill is knowing when to go and when to stick, i use a simple logic. is there a makable finish, if no then develop and play safe. i do this after every shot. but i may go for a finish when i cant see a finish, ill play a shot to put the white in a better position then reassess. Playing aggressive can put your opponent bang under pressure. Letting them know they cant leave you anything puts you in a commanding position. If you can take out an outrageous finish early, this can make your opponent lose all confidence. Let them know you have no fear.
