Love watching this video, your voice is very simple, authentic, and clear! Thanks for the information provided in your video, very useful tips! especially about choosing small boats (I prefer to support local businesses than big companies and the crowds :) ), as I start now to plan my trip to this region at the end of Dec, your videos of your 33 day-trip will be super helpful for me :) 🙏🙏🙏🤩🤩🤩

What a nice thing to say! Living the dream, as they say but it takes a lot of planning and budgeting choices in general to do these trips but I (Karen) enjoy the challenge. Dave is the camera guy so it’s a good balance. And definitely grateful that we can do these trips!

hi YYZ Wanderers! Super nice video. Thank you! I wanted to ask: what time of the year did you travel to Ushuaia?
@YYZWanderers

Glad you liked it! We hit Ushuaia on the 2nd week of February. For Torres, that was last week of January. Days are comfortable, especially if the sun is out, it’s balmy. Starts to get cooler by late afternoon. The park was very windy cold (single digits) by mid afternoon when we were there so a light down puffer is definitely needed.

Is it damn cold in the winter ❄️🥶 there?
@YYZWanderers
@YYZWanderers 11 ай бұрын
We were there in their summer (February) and had to wear a light down puffer. Average temp was about 10C to 15C, warmish during the day and cool nights. It was single digit temps when we hiked in the Tierra del Fuego park, fine for hiking but cold when you’re not moving. I would expect winter to be very cold. It’s windy in parts so that makes it feel colder.

Tierra del Fuego national park for sure! Everyone loves the lake and post office. If you go on your own, just wait till the tour buses leave and it will be quiet for a little. Then have a nice centola (crab) dinner in town. Enjoy your time.

Hello, very nice video. I will be in Ushuaia for 4 nights in January 2024, I have already booked/bought most of things. I only have to book beagle cruise, I asked some quotations but the prices are crazy (200-300 dollars per person). I do not understand why, the other stuff has a resonable cost (similar to the ones you reported). How did you buy the cruise on beagle channel? Which was the operator? Did you pay before? Thanks a lot for your help ;)
@YYZWanderers
@YYZWanderers Жыл бұрын
The tour prices could be higher because of the length of the trip you selected and also if it includes going to the estancia and pengiun island (Pira Tours is the only operator who can disembark on the island for example). We did a half day and did not go to see the penguins. We saw comorants. I booked through Viator and got a 10% discount for a first time booking. Sometimes they also offer a discount if you book through their mobile app. We paid in advance in USD. They have a generous cancellation policy which is why I booked it in advance. Hope this helps. This is the Viator link but be sure to look for discounts. www.viator.com/tours/Ushuaia/Beagle-Channel-navigation-with-mini-trekking/d933-180409P1

Hi there fellow torontonians! (YYZ, HaHa, got it now.) Thank you for the nice and useful video! Do you have a video like that on Bariloche and Buenos Aires (that we are also planning to visit)?
@YYZWanderers

Helllooo! Glad it was useful. The dollar exchange in Argentina is insane, it’s doubled since we were there. We didn’t make it to Bariloche or BA although I wish we did. We spent most of our time in Patagonia hiking in Torres & Fitz Roy. FYI I think it would be cheaper to book local flights with Aerolineas Argentinas when you get there paying in cash ARS vs the USD rate foreigners have to pay online, so look into that. Have a great time, and happy to answer any other questions if we can.

@@YYZWanderers Thank you for all your advice. We started booking our trip to Argentine (BA, Bariloche, Ushuaia). Many accommodation places ask to pay there in cash in US$. What did you do? Did you carry with you significant amounts of US cash? Could you withdraw with your Canadian bank card at Argentinian banks/ETMs? I think there is a daily limit how much one can withdraw from a money machine.

After your videos of Patagonia's Torres del Paine and Fitz Roy mountains, I admit assuming that Ushuaia would be of less interest. I was wrong. Thank you for such a worthy conclusion, and the trilogy it completes.

I really enjoyed the video, very informative. Do you paid for the tours in US dollars or pesos argentinos? Please advise about the journey on bus from Ushuaia to Chile. Thanks
@YYZWanderers
@YYZWanderers 10 ай бұрын
Glad to hear it was helpful! We paid for the boat tour online with a US credit card as I wanted to make sure we had it reserved. The local bus to the Tierra del Fuego park was paid in pesos. To get to Chile from Ushuaia, we booked Bus Sur to Punta Arenas online. They make stops at a bakery, at the border crossings, on the ferry, all of which had clean toilets. They also give you a sandwich, drink& dessert from the bakery. It went by relatively quickly as there were the stops to break it up. Have fun!

Can you help us with Patagonia trip. Any suggestions for tour company. Can we do it ourselves
@YYZWanderers
@YYZWanderers Жыл бұрын
We booked our trip ourselves to save $$ so I don’t have any recommendations on tour companies. They are quite expensive if you go this route but they make it very easy without stressing on logistics. I wrote a few blog posts on pros/cons, how to plan each part of Patagonia we visited on our website - just go to the blog section for South America. Have a read (there are 3 posts) then let me know if you have specific questions, I am happy to help as its quite challenging to figure it all out! The website is www.yyzwanderers.com, or click in the link in ‘about’ on this channel.

We were there in their summer month (early February) and while it’s a cool type of summer weather being so far south, it changes quickly so it may be t-shirt weather one minute but can cool down easily the next. So best to pack a light weight down puffer and waterproof jacket, especially if you go out on the water.

wrong fact, the southernmost city in the world is Puerto Williams, since the year 2019, change from a Town to a City, legally and constitutionally by the Chilean State 👍. you can change that to not miss inform 👍. Very cool video, Ushuaia is beautiful
@YYZWanderers
@YYZWanderers 10 ай бұрын
Didn’t know that Puerto Williams was changed to a city status, even with a population of less than 3,000 people. The marketing folks in Ushuaia certainly made use of ‘el fin del mundo’. To your point, we do reference in the voiceover that PW is truly and more accurately the southernmost inhabited place on earth. Thanks for your feedback!
