Everything did fall apart …. last November 2021 , when I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma! I went from a healthy 165 lbs to 110 lbs in 1 month. Nothing but skin and bones. I should have died ! I was in so much pain that I wanted to die ! I didn’t want to live anymore. But here I am 7 months later. Alive and well !!! My family and friends couldn’t believe it; including the doctors who treated me initially. They didn’t think I’d make it! I DID NOT EXPECT To make it ! Some of my friends even question whether I was sick or not because I look so good. One said it almost seems that my cancer was UNDONE ! My life did turn around in a dime! Another Buddhist monk who inspired me during this terrible period was Thich Hnat Hanh ! He said to meet what ever it is that faces you and not to run away, embrace it and Use the energy of Mindfulness to help you! There was nothing I can do ! I had cancer! So I calmly rested in my predicament and just allowed life to unfold itself.

By the grace of God and KZbin I found Ajahn Brahm and this video. I’ve probably listened to it 150X and Ajahn Brahm’s videos over a thousand times. This single presentation helped me through the darkest times in calmness that lasted for years by helping me to reframe the challenges, rid my mind of negativity, sit in neutrality and then charge forward to positive outcomes. Thank you Ajahn Brahm!

This talk saved my life when I was going thru a very difficult time 10 years ago. I learnt the art of forgiveness and my ghosts of the past stop haunting me. No more tigers chasing me, I am now riding a tiger with compassion and healthy boundaries. Now I am teaching the same and assisting others. I learnt I cab be a rainbow🌈in someone else 's cloud. Thank you for your fun loving teaching way ❤😊

The most fun-loving, kind, wise, moral and upright dhamma teacher I could find at a young, tender age struggling with severe, paralyzing illness. Eternal gratitude to this renunciant, this beautiful monk whose positivity, loving-kindness, compassion can reach across the world wide web to anyone whose hearts is open to receive. Gratitude belongs to the superior men :)) "Please lower your expectations." :))

Don't forget that sometimes when you examine the tiger and the snake very closely, they're actually not tigers and snakes but actually just some cute rabbits and mice. Sometimes our perceptions are way off and what is a mouse in realite becomes a tiger.

Sometimes I dont know what to do anymore, now is one of those times and this helped me get my mind in a way that will be best for us all. I'm going to enjoy the blessings around me, be thankful for what I have, and enjoy the time I have. I cant help whats affecting me, its out of my hands. Our love can be the best and worst things. I will always love and always be thankful. Maybe a gap will open, I hope so, but im ready to take that train heading towards me dead on if it doesnt turn, im tied to the tracks and my ropes are atleast keeping me warm.

I also listen to Ajahn Martin and J. Krishnamurti. Ajahn Martin’s teachings is direct and straight. He’s a no-nonsense kinda guy. He doesn’t fool around with soft nice words for you to hear. He’s opposite from Ajahn Brahm. Sometimes I really need to face myself... face all the ways and methods we trick ourselves from seeing the truth, and Ajahn Martin’s teachings helps me with that.

Whilst being abused and the imagery came across my mind that two abusers in my head were a tiger and snake... I realised if I'm dangling in a hole I have a thousand tigers above and hundreds of snakes beneath me! then I thought; if I'm holding on to a root, I'm in real trouble because I'm pretty heavy, and when I look up and see a bee hive I desperately try to avoid any honey going into my mouth because I'm Vegan! The moral is.. sometimes there is no Honey! Sometimes things are not ok, and there is NOTHING that is going to make it ok. My ADVICE ; Wait, Things Change.. And That, Unless We Die.. Is Inevitable.

My mother tells me to "not worry and be happy" at times and the tea story made me decide to take those words to heart, really appreciate that these talks are available. More than two years ago I was pretty suicidal and I realize that it was because I was left with a huge void of purpose after leaving a fundamentalist Christian lifestyle and I felt that I had nothing left to live for, I'm grateful I didn't go through it and it did come to pass. A couple of weeks ago after listening to another lecture of yours I came to realize what was probably behind my depression (it was in part because of loss of identity) and I think that I've finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel and feel more alive than before, for that you have my eternal gratitude.

Einstein was an Atheist ( also a German Jew ) .. …He once said I want to know God’s thoughts why he create the world Not how and other things. He also said ….The Religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should avoid dogma and theology. Covering both nature and the Spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things as a meaningful unity..If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism

While Buddhism dose not ask to worship A God .. it also acknowledge the existence of gods perhaps a good example is Magala Suttra The discourse of Blessing .The Introduction to This Suttra said …There was a debate among people what are the highest Blessing were..( make people to be successful in their life “ lucky “ ) ?? .. then this debate happen to get into among gods and goddess too .. ..??so ONE DAY ….( as the introduction to this suttra ) said when the night was far spent, a certain deity(a young god ) whose surpassing splendor illuminated the entire Jeta Grove, came to the presence of the Exalted One and, drawing near, respectfully saluted him and stood at one side. Standing thus, he addressed the Exalted One in verse: "Many deities and men, yearning after good, have pondered on blessings.[4] Pray, tell me the greatest blessing!" (Some people translate it as The Great Collection of Success-Generators) Keeping away from unwise and unwholesome friends, And seeking the company only of those who are wise, Giving honour and service to those that are worthy recipients These rank among the highest success-generators. Living in an appropriate area of residence, with a record of good living in one's own past, And with perfect mastery over one's own self -- These rank among the highest success-generators.,,,so there were 32 points in Discourse of blessing

How you talk to yourself in your head is very important. Be kind and compassionate to yourself. Try to do a few things in a week that lift your mood. I'm much much older than you, and you have so much of life to live. I've learnt to learn from errors and mistakes - I made so many. And then try to gain insights from these. Don't compare with others. You are unique. Hope things work out for you X

How do I look to the future with "hope" but also " lower my expectations" and " expect the unexpected" ? Is this negative thinking?

I wish this could be translated to spanish so that my parents can be able to understand. My family is falling apart and I'm losing strength and words to help with this situation.

Yeah, well, it's NOT the Doubt that kills you Ajahn Brahm, it's the Hope. 😶 And oddly, this video just popped up on my phone - unexpectedly :P - though I hadn't browsed too the channel nor opened up KZbin 😱 Just BINK! Up it popped. I listened though.
