if it is orange or yellow you don't have to worry. You still need to get checked but it won't be engine damaging and will even go through inspection. If the light is red is where the damaging stuff shows and you need to pull over quickly. Orange will not light for no oil or an over heating situation.

@@habbaticchio2468 Unless it is from the 50s or 60s yes all cars idiot lights are that way, with or without gauges. Whatever the message is behind the light deciding to glow. yellow means something needs to be looked at in the near future red is pull the hell over before I blow up.

I am currently borrowing a car from the mechanic. I have had it for almost a month and when accelerating fast today my check engine light started blinking yellow for a few seconds but disappeared when I stopped accelerating quickly. Could I have caused this problem over a month or is it possible the car was already in bad shape? It's a 2008 Ford fiesta. I'm panicking a bit that I destroyed the car somehow lol. Thanks

I got my spark plugs changed , a new ignition coil , i had a coolant leak i got that replaced as well. What could it be ? At first it was throwing misfire but i got all that changed

It ended being a head gasket replacement, intake cam and lifters all that for 7k lol

Does light need to be on for scanner to work? Auto Zone told me that if light has gone off - the scanner won’t work.

Yes they told you correctly, but depending on the code scanner you use you can look at the freeze frame data and see the codes that were set off even if the check engine light is not currently on

Bro, the check engine light flashing is not your temperature gauge or your oil you have separate gauges for those your oil light will come on or your temperature will become hot on the gauge LOL it usually means a bad ignition coil! LOL nice video

CEL flashes at high speed only and then stops when I get to about 60 mph. It doesn’t register a code with a scanner, oil is good, coolant is good, transmission fluid is good. Changed plugs and wires and it still does it. What would be next? Thanks.2001 Chevy express 2500.

@@JBish the owners manual says a spark plug with a higher temperature rating could get that result. My flashing cel took on another issue unfortunately

@@jasonv.9015I have an 89 ranger that’s doing the same thing, CEL only in 5th gear but everything seems fine. Did you ever find a fix?

I ended up having oil leaking into 2 cylinders, but in the repair manual, it says a spark plug that rated hot could make that cel turn on at high speeds and it recommends getting plugs that aren't so hot

Just changed my spark plugs and the engine is now shaking and getting a squalling noise when I start the car(2006 Impala). Any suggestions? flashing engine light.

A spark plug wire might have accidentally been hooked to the wrong cylinder or something unplugged. There are likely codes that can point to the issue.
