When I had issues with my gas cap which I replaced since then it wasn't the check engine light that came on. It was the maintenance light. Which at the time I thought were one in the same. It was a new car for me. Until I took it to get an oil change and was told to replace the gas cap and the light went off.

Hi, I have as of today a flashing check engine light intermittent - it runs rough and idles about 1000 rpm with flashing check engine light, but if I drive with ~ 3000 rpm’s the flashing stops and engine seems smoother. Power is down. Code reader says misfire on cyl 2,4 . Normally with this 2002 Subaru WRX , I tend to get tell tale minor idle misfire codes on cyl 1 and 3, so this is unusual. Recently: put redline fuel system cleaner in the gas tank. Cleaned maf sensor with Crc maf sensor cleaner New air filter Improved the battery ground connection The car seemed to be running better with these minor procedures. No check engine light for a week. So from your very helpful video, maybe too much fuel? I had the car parked facing uphill, and with it idling for a few minutes, there was fuel smelling liquid seeping at the exhaust tip? 90k miles on new motor 265 k mikes on chassis About 20k miles on plugs About that on coil packs replacements oem Original fuel pump Oem used maf sensor came with oem used jdm air box ( I think it had less miles than my original. I first noticed a lack of power going up a grade at 70mph today EGT gauge went from a normal 1400 to 1600 degrees, towards a lean condition I think? This was just for a minute or two then dropped back down to around 1400. Any thoughts on this? Thanks 🙏

I have a 06 Ford Freestyle that idles smoothly and runs good, except when I'm on and off the gas . Than occasionally it shutters a little bit than corrects itself. On a few occasions it would trigger the check engine light when giving it gas, than when I ease off the gas the light goes away. OB2 scanner says P0306 and P0138....... Anyone know what caused the misfire ?

I replaced the spark plugs for 2013 Honda odyssey because engine light was blinking. I don’t know the code. The repair guy said it will last about 6 months and need to replace again. He said the Odyssey always have that problem. I drive about 10k - 12,000 miles/year. I don’t think he replaced the wires. My odyssey is 123k miles. I kept maintenance, major tune up .. replaced a few things 1 1/2 yr ago till now, spent about $10k since 100k miles. Original owner. The only thing was not replace is drive shaft as dealer suggested ($1k). Should I keep this car, replace spark plugs every 6 months or it’s going to have more problems? Thanks

I just started seeing my check engine light blinking on my 2013 Hyundai Accent, and before that it was sputtering and jerking. This was while driving to work on Monday. Another think I noticed since the problem started was my fuel economy shot up. I filled my gas tank Sunday night, and whenever I do I reset the thing that shows me my mpg average, I got up to 50 mpg while driving about 60 mph on the interstate.

Good morning, my vehicle is what I use for important errands for my family. I have a 2006 GMC envoy and on Saturday March 30, 2024, is started to have the engine light flashing for a small amount of time. I stopped using it right away and parked the car over two days. Then today Tuesday, April 2, 2024, will take it to the mechanic but the engine light is just flashing consistently. I just what to know the cost and what is the worst case scenario? I have a 2005 PT Cruiser, Touring, convertible, 4cyl. My engine light is coming on and blinking and stays that way until I drive it a couple miles then stops blinking, but stays on. I don't have a specific auto mechanic. Should I go to Auto Zone to be hooked to a computer to analyze the problem? I made sure my gas cap was on tight and got $40 of the top grade gas for my tank to rule that out. What to do next?

flashing cel with misfiring. a mechanic will put his scope on there and most likely tell you you need to replace an ignition coil. just happened to me so I replaced them all. cost me about $50 each for ignition coils at RockAuto and two hours of time; V8. did not help so I looked a bit closer - as the mechanic should have done - and found that a rodent had eaten the wires to two of the cylinders. now I need a wiring harness. this may be a more common problem than failing ignition coils, especially in the winter. noticed an acorn in the engine so it must have been a squirrel. found the misfire when I started it up one morning so I guess he did it overnight. hope he enjoyed his Extremely expensive meal.

I have this same minivan in your video. I have a 2003 DODGE CARAVAN SE V6 3.3L The minivan is giving me a P0300 code. I turned on the engine and left it idling. Connected a test light to a ground and connected a vacuum gauge to a vacuum port on the upper intake manifold. I did a cylinder drop test using the test light while removing one wire at a time from the coil pack and observing the vacuum gauge needle for movement. As i was removing one wire at a time from the coil pack using the test light the vacuum gauge needle was not moving so i can know which exact cylinder is misfiring. Do you happen to know why the vacuum gauge needle was not moving?

I don’t have a code for a misfire I have a code for a lean condition can’t find a air leak anywhere changed the spark plugs wires coil pack pcv valve air filter car just doesn’t seem to have much power drives fine until you have to get on the freeway then it’s rides rpms long then drops then engine light starts flashing and seems like it wants to loose power! Read the 02 sensors they all seem to be between 0.700 0.100 beside b1 s2 it reads 0.056 idk what to do next😪

I was having a misfire on cylinders 5,6 and 7 of my 2005 SLK55 AMG. Compression test by Mercedes as there are no compression issues. I was told to replace my spark plugs,coils, coil wires, fuel filter and computer. Car sound and run great. No engine lights and no misfires. When I drive the car the engine light comes on. I can turn it off with the OB11 scanner, however, when I drive it the engine light comes back on. Could it be my transmission as when it shifts to 2nd gear the light comes on. If I drive slow the light stays off.

I have a 2008 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi. The engine light is on usually (as has every vehicle I have had, ever) but now when I am on the highway something weird happens. Which lead me to this video. First, I was using cruise control and it just... shut off and wouldn't turn back on... then the traction control light came on (no obvious reason for this) and then the engine light started blinking and beeping on and off. This stops when I pull over, shut off the vehicle, and start it again. It also happens when I speed up quickly (ex, merging, passing). Any ideas?

My guess is that you have a misfire. Dodge deactivates the other items when check engine light is flashing

Hi, I have a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country. It's been running fine, until I stopped and got gas yesterday. I had a half a tank already so I only filled it another 1/4 of a tank. Then it immediately started sputtering and trying to stall on me. I figured I got bad gas again so a short time later I went to go ahead and fill up the tank, at a different gas station, but the car ran fine the whole time. This morning I got up to take my kid to school and it started sputtering and trying to stall again and my check engine light was blinking. Is it possible it is just bad gas after having time to settle overnight and gummed things up a bit? I put in some fuel injector treatment when i got home, hoping it helps.

It is possible it is bad gas but I haven't seen bad gas in over 10 years. Likely coincidence

Yeah, it was just a coincidense. I ended up using my fixd sensor and found it was the crankshaft position sensor, got the part and changed it out, and now its working just fine again! thank you for your help!@@ShadetreeAutomotiveLayton

What about a stopped up catalytic converter would that make a misfire code pop up. I have a 2000 chevey metro lsi 4 cylinder that is running real bad popping and sputtering with valve chatter and I noticed if I go up a incline it will barely pull itself and the exhaust will start smoking like it's heating up from the inside I think my diagnostic port is messed up the cheap code reader wouldn't connect to the ecu so I'm throwing parts at it now I would hate to cut my exhaust to bypass the cat and injectors cost half what I played for the car. It ran amazing before this started with a strong engine so it's not compression issues can anyone point me in the right direction

Hello my Lexus rx350 2007 engine light fashes when I remove the number six coil wire it doesn't drop down the engine but when I remove another coil wire the engine sounds drops I have changed the number six coil and the plug yet when I remove the coil wire it doesn't seem like the number six is working the coil is good the plug is good I don't know what's wrong please help

Unfortunately without having the car here to run some tests it's hard for me to help much.. If the engine is missing on that specific cylinder and the spark plug and coil is good then it's likely a problem with that fuel injector or engine valve however that being said I'm not completely convinced that the engine is missing on that specific cylinder.. You may have another cylinder not firing correctly that is causing the problem.. It's best to vist a qualified service center that can spend an hour or two to test those items for you.

It's likely a problem with the engine misfiring due to an ignition coil or any one of the things I mentioned in this video.. The best thing is to not drive the car if the light is flashing and get it properly diagnosed by a qualified service center.

That was a great video I've got a Honda Accord 2009 EX-L V6 and I've got random misfires on 223 cylinder sometimes and recently my check engine light has been blinking and I've had to pull off to the side of the road take a break and then start the car and usually it'll get me home anyway without blinking the light will stay solid. I replace the coil packs and the spark plugs about a month-and-a-half ago because of this issue I'm not sure where to go from this point I do know that the motor has overheated I had to replace the radiator and I had a local mechanic to replace a couple gaskets because I believe you said they hadn't might be warped not sure if that was what was causing the problem but his fix didn't fix the problem. Any ideas the little code reader I have doesn't give me anything beyond the simple error code I'm going to drop it off this week had a Pep Boys they've got a more sophisticated computer that might help isolate the problem any ideas let me know thank you

@@2min_hacks yes after watching many videos and researching it I found that I had a possible blown head gasket do to a warped head. You can tell this if you're losing radiator fluid I can check your exhaust to see if you got wipes smoke indicating water is being burned you can check your oil cap to see if it's milky like oil substance I also changed the plug and coil pack on cylinder five which was the one I was getting the a po305 code on
