FREE COURSES: www.guitarmast... When practicing guitar stops being exciting it's because of something you did to yourself. The good news is that you can stop doing it and enjoy the process of building skills again.

Great pep talk. Guitar psychology is a neglected aspect of "guitar mastery", Claus has great insight into it and "cut's to the chase" with a great sense of humour.

I love that guy! I wish I could have a Claus at home instead of people with a negative mindset.

Great video! You just found the most accurate words to help me getting through this state of mind. It's funny because, yeah, it's so obvious actually! It relieves my mind to see I'm not the only person in this world to struggle with this

Exactly what I wanted to hear, very good advice. I think it is applicable to many aspects of life as well : Enjoy the moment .. enjoy the journey instead of waiting to reach to the destination.

Thanks for this video Claus. The feeling of "never going to be as good as I want to be" really struck a chord with me, I was all about the ultimate target, after watching this I am going to just enjoy the journey to that destination. Besides, we never stop learning.

I get the point here, but the question that keeps coming to mind is, "why else would I do this if not to be good at it?" I hardly ever get enrichment from sucking at things, and with guitar, it is *WAY* too frustrating to enjoy at all in the beginning. My vision that "doesn't exist" is intrinsically linked to my guitar to the point they're inseparable. Sure, it can ruin my enjoyement, but I don't know how else to approach this; I didn't start guitar for any other reason. EDIT: I think I fixed it! For me it was *FINALLY* finding a song or two I wanted to play. I was one of those guys who "never wanted to learn guitar by playing other people's music," but when I did, I was able to shift away from thinking about "practicing," and started intrinsically having fun with the instrument.

When I play something, and because I already know it, I get bored. How do I solve this. I wish there were a kind of game, learning skills, like missions you complete; now you are stronger, agile, fast, etc. When I was younger I was so amazed by the metal songs, now I feel I little bored, but I know there's still that fire in me. That's why I keep going, till I find a way to overcome this.

Funny and enormously helpful. Claus' videos always touch crucial concepts that other youtube guitar lessons just seem to lack. Very grateful for the knowledge man. Looking forward to take one of your full courses one of these days.

thank you so much for this! I’ve been struggling to stay interested in guitar because of what you said- the dream of becoming ‘great’ and then realizing that likely i’ll never be so great as the masters. So silly. In the moment when I’m practicing it’s quite satisfying and fun, but my thoughts and insecurities get in the way and then I start to avoid practicing, thinking ‘what’s the point?’. I’ll try to cut it out and just focus on learning and enjoying the process 🤟 Silly thing is I went through the same thought process when I started doing art. Now (years after I began) those thoughts no longer make me avoid practicing/making art because I just simply really enjoy the process and expressing myself!

I never get bored of playing or practicing my guitar. I might get burn out from time to time of music or life in general. Sometimes I have to step away from music completely..playing it or listening to it. Just take a break. No more than a couple of days though.

It's kind of like this computer. I've wanted one for YEARS that could play any latest games @ 60fps. One day I finally got it and... I'm not even playing any of those games, lol. It was the goal that drove me; the destination. But when you finally get there, you think to yourself, "well, now what?"

You have get it in your head that you have to get your guitar to float. Practice floating the guitar while you watch tv, in your car and in the shower. Do it over and over again 2,000,000,000,000,000 repetitions should do the trick and it will become effortless and you can do it without thinking. Your guitar will float at will, but you have to do the work...

don't agree with this at all. that's like saying you have a playground were you can only use one slide an nothing else to imagining you have the full play ground to play in. or snowboarding learning to snowboard can be frustrating but once you learn an dont have to think about everything your doing it becomes enjoyable when you can go anywhere in the mountain.
