I literally romanticize everything I want to pursue, then five minutes later realize I'm too bad at all of it to make a living of it, but I can't become a professional if I don't focus on becoming good at one thing, but I can't decide because... And the cycle repeats itself.

@@RakeshSharma-sq1si well I've been trying to do at least half of the things I want, but by self-teaching, because I feel like I don't have time (and mostly money) to take classes or courses on everything. That makes the process a lot slower and frustrating because I wanna be great now lol and for that I need at least a professional to help, which takes me to the loop again.

I like doing more than one thing, but I feel like it all needs to tie together. So rather than niching down to specific crafts or art, I focused on developing my own style. That way, I can do a lot of different crafts under one umbrella but it all feels cohesive because I have a specifc style. This has been working for me quite well.

Thank you for this! I struggle with juggling all my passions such as writing, playing trumpet, reading, fitness, going outside, self-care and there are a few more. I think what works best for me is doing certain things one day and doing other things a different day. It works, but it is hard because one day when I schedule myself to write, I'll want to play my trumpet or it'll happen to be nice outside so I'll want to go on a run and my schedule gets thrown off. It also gets repetitive working on the same things in order every day: Write, play trumpet, work out or go on a run, for example. It gets boring and it is hard to switch it up because it worked so well for me over the summer. I get burnt out, but I take breaks when that happens. I just feel like it is still too much some days. Plus I work and that takes time. I really enjoyed this video though, it does help!

If you’re not joking about the mental health issues.. they are real, but as an excuse and cop-out they’re too easy as a way of not addressing bad behavior.

I think the main struggle for wanting to do many things is that many of those things take time to learn and get good in, so when i flip from one activity to another, i feel like im not investing enough focus on each thing to really grasp and get better at them. Its like im just learning surface level stuff for the dopamine-boost before moving on. I know theres plenty of tips out there to juggle different pursuits and have a plan and time management for each, but realistically, they dont count the time & effort it takes for the mind(and body) to process and absorb a new skill (which happens when youre not doing the activity), to weed through the anxieties and fears that come from starting/joining something new, and then of course put that all against the mundane tasks you have to do like working and adulting. I think with age it gets hard to not get tired and burnt out easily, so as much as i want to do so many things, i really have to discipline myself to do 2-3 things at a time to get the full effect and appreciation, and sacrificing some desires if theyre not the best time to pursue them

Gosh I feel this so much! It can be so overwhelming at times. It sounds oversimplified, but sometimes the best thing to do is just start on something, literally anything you think you’d like to do. Then see where it takes you, if you’re not enjoying it, then you can always take a step back and try something new. (It’s hard to not put pressure on yourself though, and as someone who is super indecisive, I know this is often easier said than done) 😅

Hello !! I am a TEAM CBT Therapist and have to say that I still struggle with my priorities. Being some kind of hyperactive person I want to do everything. After watching your video I think I will use a combination of doing What I love right now and also aborting some projects because I want to do too many things. Happyness comes with getting organised, focusing slowly on the thing you love right now and saying NO to many projects

Maybe find ways to get your varied interests to work together? Say if you like theatre and engineering, go into special effects work. If you like music and electronics take up the synthesizer or work in a recording studio, and so on?

I don't really think making a plan would work because ,whenever i create a plan to do things. I end up wasting even more time, not doing anything on the plan. So according to me, you should just start doing it from the very moment you are thinking of doing something. I really like the idea of not doing everything at once and saving things for later to not get overwhelmed. I have always been rushing things to complete in a short amount of time , to later just forget the i have learnt it. It is always good to start too many things by taking small steps at a time, so we won't get overwhelmed.

I agree I think making sure you’re not feeling overwhelmed is key! Sometimes just taking that first step when you feel the inspiration will be enough to know whether you want to continue going down that path. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😊
