I Love watching your videos brother! You were the very 1st person to help me with my decision to start breeding rabbits. Living traditions was a close second. Kevin speaks VERY highly of you btw! Lol. Ty

I’ve been trying to breed a new book that is seven months old. I just found out he has ear mites. Do you think that might be the reason he’s not breeding? Also I’m treating all my bunnies for ear mites.

Tried the car ride for a very stubborn doe, having put her in with the buck everyday for over a week with no luck. 10 minutes in the car reintroduced her to the buck and had 2 fall off's in less than 20 minutes so not sure why but it worked for us.

With my little knowledge. I monitor every 2 hours or so if it's one of my reckless does. Make sure she has her fur in the kindle box by pulling some off her few days to expected time & if she pulls fur outside after doing that, put them in the box. You're trying to let her know where she should kindle. If she still litters outside & kits die before your routine check, just pot it & get another. I don't know how true it is on passing down the traits to her kits

If she’s that bad a mother you should get a different doe.

A question for you then. I have a boy he’s 8 months old so not too young, definitely distinctly a boy. I went to breed him brought the girl to him he mounted her and tried 1 time and she hadn’t lifted. Then he pretty much gave up. I’ve tried breeding him several times over a week with different girls with no luck. He’ll eat while they are there, he will lie on the other side of the cage. Most recently they were both just grooming on separate sides of the cage. My girls will run around a bit but they aren’t aggressive at all I cut back on his feed he was potentially a little overweight but he would never stop eating if he had his way. So is he just a failure? Could there be something wrong I don’t see, is their running a bit enough to make himself confidents as a new buck. He just doesn’t even try. Even when they are just sitting there and he’ll sniff at them grooms them but not try to mount.

That is a tough one. Sounds like you are taking the correct steps. It could be that he is just shy. You might give him a little bit of a break (a few weeks) and try again. I am sure that once he does successfully breed he will be much more receptive in the future. I wish I had a better solution but that is all I can come up with at the moment.

But my rabbits live together and are bonded. How do I make them breed when they don't really care about it?
@Slightlyrednecked4 жыл бұрын
There is a pretty good chance that they have already bred or will do so at some time and you just won't know it. I would separate them into their own cages so you can control when they are introduced and breeding.

Does the time of day make a difference when being rabbits?

@blackjesusdieorbar35374 жыл бұрын
Yes it does, it's barely hot at early in the morning & late at night & like he said, rabbits don't do well with heat, could lead to heatstroke... Came reason they litter at night or early morning in most cases. Just like humans, will you prefer to have sex in the heat of the sun or when it's cool?

I have my buck and doe together from age 1 month and now they're 6 month already. Is there any chance they will breed? Because my friend do the same thing, and they already have a kids when the doe is 4 month. But mine don't.

Hi, thanks for so much useful information you are putting online. I tried to breed one of my does this week - but she didnt lift. She was in one compartment with her four month old daughters until then - so maybe she wasnt fertile at that point. So I put her in a seperate cage to make another attempt in a few weeks. Maybe I should put her in my car and drive her around a while as you proposed in one of your earlier videos :-) . Thank god I dont need my rabbits for a living since I was not very lucky breeding them this season: 7 kits, 3 and 0 from two attempts with another doe - and the third attempt with another young doe this week got me only 2 young ones (but 3oz each :-) ). I bred rabbits successfully years ago by feeding commercial pellets. This year I tried to give my rabbits only what I got from the meadows around (mostly dandelion & alfalfa) plus garden scraps as carot greens, cabbage leaves and some occasional dry bread. Maybe the small litter size is due to the diet. But the young ones always grew well from green only - plus 2 pounds from week four for to week eight. So there should be sufficient protein in alfalfa.
@blackjesusdieorbar35374 жыл бұрын
I heard too much alfalfa in adults rabbits might affects getting pregnant. Maybe that's why your doe isn't holding. Reduce it & only increase it at the last 5 days before kindling
@niviuk83354 жыл бұрын
@@blackjesusdieorbar3537 Thank you very much for your input - you're probably right. In nature rabbits have a choice and eat the herbs which are good for them - and I made the mistake of giving her only alfalfa since it was comfortable for me as the alfalfa field is next to my house. Next time I'll offer a bigger variety of herbs. I hope the result gets better then. The two young ones size after one week is nevertheless enormous - they look like water bombs :-)
@blackjesusdieorbar35374 жыл бұрын
@@niviuk8335 you're welcome. She needs fiber base pellets/hay. The 2 kits will indeed be large lol, less competition & alfalfa is good for them. I do more of protein herbs? in the last week of pregnancy. All the best ☺ 🐰
