I adopted my first Akita from a shelter. He was an adult who was so happy to be out of the shelter,but still a little unsure about how much he was already loved. I had to go looking for him a couple of times,when the gate was left open. But when I got home from work one day, he was waiting in the house at a top of the stairs. I started to run and pet him,then he slowly went down on the floor and I continued to rub him and rolled him over on his back. He let me rub his belly and I knew we were bonded. Incredible feeling.

I started to interact with my puppy girl since she was one month and a half old. And I was really surprised how quick she was learning the commands and the tricks! She is extremely intelligent and you should see her intense expression when I talk to her. When I call her she comes immediately and she is ready and eager to do what I ask her. Much better than having a kid!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks so much for this. Love your videos on Akitas. I've had Akitas for 30+ years and I am a small woman (always a male and female). Love them to pieces and I am also the enforcer of rules. They love having parameters and certainty. They are calm and courageous and my female is very affectionate which is unusual. Thanks form USA!

@@scottlouis4076 got mine 3 weeks ago (Akita inu) he pretty much a champion on everything but he keep having toilet accidents (number one only when he too happy or take too long to take him out.. I dont know how such a small thing can leak so often). The best way to avoid it seem to get him out every 1 hour (not always easy with job and all). All I can say is be patient and set a VERY timed routine. They are wonderful loving and smart dogs who clearly love to be around their favorites humans. Are they stuborn? hell yes, good luck trying to take him for a walk when he decide he done with walking but dont give up

Wow I’ve passed the last couple of hours watching you’re videos in my preparation for my Akita pup 🐶 and I’ve learned so much! I do have a quick question you talk a lot about leadership and dominance what are your thought and opinions about the dominance training with an Akita? (holding them down until they don’t resist)

Hello, my name is Eric. I have had a German Shepherd in the past, and I’m considering buying a American Akita typically what I used to do with my German Shepherd when he was an adult feed him twice take them out in the morning get him tired, then wait till he comes home to have him eat. Is that the same concept you guys recommend

I already have a Beautiful female Akita (along with 2 other dogs. a pitbull and a little little street dog) they get along great and she is really the best with people and with kids. and she is pregnant! she will have the babys in 2 weeks! it would be great to to know more of the first days after birth and when is it time to start training them. we hope to keep 1 or 2 and would love to learn more about raising dogs in like a packs because 5 or 6 dogs is a hell of a lot of work and we really want them to be well together.

I have a German shepherd & Husky mix, he’s basically the alpha ( well, he thinks but Im pretty sure I’m on my way to get him to a lower rank ) and I might be getting an Akita puppy soon, so, I wanna be ready this time and hopefully I’ll have a good dog who will protect me, and hopefully it won’t wanna take after my other dog 😅

I’m not a first time dog owner, but this will be my first large breed dog. Although I live alone, I’m really close to my family, could this affect their behavior towards them? How often should they be around before the Akita views them as non-threatening?
@patrimill73 жыл бұрын
Have them visit few times a week and stay a few hours too. I've had both Japanese and American Akita's and this is what I did. Also have them give your Akita some commands and feed them...just in case you had to leave overnight or a few days. Both Brandy and Panda were with me 99% of the time. I had one emergency and thank God my BIL was able to watch her. I actually bought a RV so that I could take them with me. You won't find another dog like them. They're loving towards the family but they bond with only one person! Be consistent...give them an inch and they'll walk all over you and will try to dominant...js Never ever let them live outside they have to be near you in the house. They can go feral and turn on you. Akita's can survive on their own and they don't need us. They do have a large prey drive and they like to attack from behind their attended victim and won't make a sound. One more thing...they're not afraid of anyone and they won't back down once they're in a fight.

Question. I have heard from you that you need a gentle but firm way of training to be a goo Akita owner. I grew up with dogs mainly with a cocker spaniel but also a lot of time around mastiff breeds. I’ve never really done much training so much as just knowing how to behave around the dogs and why they do the things they do. Does my lack of training skill tule me out as a potential Akita owner? Should I just look for another breed?

I am getting an akita pup which will be then 7 months old. I am going to live with the dog for 1 month here in my homecountry and then move with it to another country. I know that this is not the ideal plan but I cannot change it. Is there anything I can do to help bond quickly with the dog so it learns to trust me that when we move I am already packleader? I fear the pup will have trust issues after moving location 2 times not knowing me so well :(

Hiii! I have my 6 month old female American Akita. I just learned that the food I’m giving her is a bad brand (as per recommended before) so I consulted with same breed owners, they suggested Go Natural, Brit, and Taste of Wild? Any thoughts on what the best is within these brands, I feel like her built for a 6 month old isn’t as developed :( I feel irresponsible! Help please :))

Fenrir Akita Show got it!! I got another question! Love the channel btw!! My dog is asking for more food (we used to feed her appetite booster because her appetite before was baddd) but now her appetite is back to normal, she barks at us and ask for more food, (overeating than required food from the dog food package) what to do?

I have an opposite view of most people who say to train your dog to wait until you go through a doorway first. I want the dog to go through first because if there is someone or something waiting for me to step through the doorway I want them to meet my dog first so I don’t get blind sided.
