What to Do With a Obsolete 20 Year-old RV Awning?

This 2002 Winnebago Journey came equiped with a first generation power awning and somehow it's lasted 20 years. But the motor is slow to close and gets stuck. Unfortunately the torsion, motor and arms are no longer supported. Rather than replace the whole thing, Stacy with RV Awnings R Us returned to help me save this awning and keep it serviceable for the next 10 years.

Hello James, I had one number for the awning guys from a previous video, the number on the left of the new card. I called 3-4 times and left messages and never heard back from them. I used someone else because I had too and I can say your guys are of the caliber you are James. I sure wish they would have called me back as the people I used were not too good. I do have more work that is not time sensitive if they are better on the phones these days. Keep up the great work James, thank you!

Just replaced our 19 year old AE on step with carefree 12 Volt travlr upgrade. We have the same year, but a Itasca Horizon. Installed in about an hour for $700 from Shade Pro with two guys, added Bluetooth for another $100. Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m have to replace my awning soon. I watch KZbin. My is a 12’. KZbin said that a lot of the 12 foot power awnings don’t have a spring load in it. When I go to see which side has the loaded side it doesn’t look like it has a spring or a loaded side on it. So in your experience how or what do you look for to see if it’s the spring side and how to lock it up. Or release it.

Always great content from you! I am very active on FB RV groups and share your videos with members that also find them very helpful, and although I have viewed many of your videos and subscribed, I haven't seen a video on how to remove the snap together extruded aluminum beltline molding so common on diesel pushers like mine without destroying them. The delamination video "RV Sidewall Water Damage...What Did We Find?" video had a very brief description on it, but I find myself having to look at replacing a fender on my 2007 Gulfstream Crescendo and it looks like I will need to remove that molding to do it. I don't even have a source for replacement if I damage it. Keep the great videos coming!

My 2007 Journey has the old canvas awning material. I have heard others state that the heavy canvas material was replaced with lighter weight material that will rip before pulling a sidewall away from the coach. Would I be wise to replace the awning material, and how hard is it to upgrade the manual awning to power?
