The badly rusting and flaking rim of a Case 430 is cleaned with the use of a pneumatic descaler and a wire wheel. Then the rim is primer/painted with a spray product from Rustoleum for protection from future deterioration. Simple video. Short video. To the point video. #case, #tractorrepair, #spray

@@tractorman4461 There we’re five of we fellers and we managed to build the lodge plum good. We had Zach and Ryan the young bucks so we three old dudes were spared a bit. We all had a great time and we started about 11 and the buckos got there about 12:30. We were finished at 5:30. For lunch Jeff bought us all giant tuna subs, he being the elder of the study group, which was super of him! Jeff is 75, had a stroke a year ago and another about the first of last month. Fortunately he’s recovering pretty well. He’s a bit slower and talks a bit slower but getting better all the time. I worked for Jeff at his wood shop a few weeks then another two weeks at a $50,000,000 mansion in Palm Beach about 7 years ago. His shop is a mile and a half from me and have been a friend since the 70s. Also a Vietnam Vet. We all had a blast and will do a sweat Tuesday eve. We’re having a warm summer rain here today but I’ll go out to the lodge and take a few pics to send your way via email as I tip and sip in the 44 direction. The JO always tastes better after the tip sippin! It was in the low70s yesterday and windy. Had it not been for the wind it would have been hot. But the cold is waiting patiently I’m sure. So expect some email pics and have a Super Sunday! Squeezes too! I’m not a sports dude but some people here are doing nothing but watching the Phillies! I've got a chisel style descaler too, but I use that to knock slag off welds and even sometimes to peen the weld....sometimes, not all the time. Rust dust is some of the worst for the ol' lungs....heavy metal and stuff settles in and won't clear too good. I don't know why I forgot to grab a mask...whaddadummy, huh. Well at least the 'stache' caught SOME of the nasty stuff. LOL I'm kinda cheap so if I can save a can of paint by brushing it when the button just won't work....so be it !! But seriously, I have a ton of various spray cans, NOS or used just long enough to dirty the nozzle and left to dry at auctions for literally nothing. Half the time there's no cap or no spray nozzle at all, but there ain't a thing wrong with the paint !! I've been doing that trick for years.....Take care and have a great evening !!

@@tractorman4461 hey if they've not been worked, then there would not be a need for restoration later! I'm a little biased because I'm leaving out the neglect and abuse factors. But the farmers I met took care of their equipment so it's use rather than abusing and neglect That leads to the need for restoration. Keep on using them. I was hauling 1-in clean for a project. And we drove by a small storage silo connected to an Alice Chalmers tractor PTO that was rotating the contents most likely corn. That tractor if it was mid '70s but it's probably back in the later 60s. Still looking good and still working. Tractors are great example of well-made American products.

@@CAROLDDISCOVER-1983 You better believe tractors are in general very well made. I can't speak of the new ones less than 40 years old though....but the old dogs would run forever with the minimum of maintenance. A little oil and a filter a few times a year. Heck I have them purring like a kitten at 70 -75 years old and a lot of them are basically original internally. Low compression and low rpm is the life of an engine. Enamel is good, but anything is better than just the rusty scales...those can destroy a new tube pretty easy if they flake off during re assembly. It doesn’t work on all spray cans but I have done it on quite a few. Turn your regulator on the air compressor high. Use a rubber tipped air nozzle. Press very hard against the top of the can with the paint spray nozzle removed. ( If there’s a stem coming out it may still work). Shoot a couple short bursts into the opening. Then test it with the paint nozzle reinstalled. Don’t get crazy or you could blow the seam in the can. I wear gloves and safety glasses. Good luck !!
