Awesome, I had my son helping me build our house as soon as he could hold a hammer , his first car needed an engine , this was before the internet , he went to the library and got a few books and 2 days later hes driving his car , they will have failures but can always fix it , I taught him how to finish concrete run any piece of equipment etc. Today my son owns his own construction company, so you and your wife keep up the good work

Sam you have a great helper !! He takes after his mom always wanting to help!! Keep it up & tell dad if he wants that paint to stick he needs to sand them first . It roughs the surface so the paint will stick !! I say paint the back wheels sometime later is okay... & don't forget to regrease that front end after you blew all the grease off !!

Finish the tires..they look nice. The new color matches the color emblem on the side of the tractor..Elijah did an awesome job.

A little paint here and there to protect it from rust will extend its useful lifespan. It just adds to the patina. Your time with the old Ford will as to it’s story. Your boys (and maybe even their children) will remember it.
@michael8208 Жыл бұрын
Ok, first off: Love how you are being such an Awesome father to your kids. Second; I think you’re correct at leaving the patina on the tractor. The rims will get dirty soon and it will match the rest of tractor again. Lol.

Your son is growing fast with his abilities of learning. Next to come the youngest son. Watch out the day will come your sons will be taking on and caring for you guys. Teach them the ways to carry on. Agree the tracker is a 1963 leaving it alone. Wheels are okay in my opinion. No worries once around the wheels will be dirty again.

Life is full of teachable moments with your kids. Make it fun and it will stick. You taught how to clean what you own and take care of it. Something that will pay dividends in the future. That it was an older piece of equipment is even better. Taking care of what you have and extending the life is a valuable lesson. The nice thing is that while you are teaching you are making memories, not just for Elijah, but for you as well. Kids grow up so quickly, when you get older memories of when they were young are priceless.

I totally understand not wanting to go too far on the tractor as this is how we wound up renovating our entire house! Lol! It all started with a simple remodeling of our guest bathroom as at the time it was the worst room in our house. So it went from the worst and stood out ,to being the best room and again it stood out! Lol! As far as your tractor goes ,I think just preserving the natural patina that it has would be awesome! Your tractor has a story to tell, and that would be lost with a restoration. Boiled linseed oil is what you want to use on your tractor paint. It will keep the rust from growing and also shine up and protect the paint and patina.

I think you did the right thing. If you spend money on fixing up the tractor for aesthetic purposes, then you have to keep doing it and that's not practical. Oh goodness your son Elijah is such a great helper and really does a great job. I think that the wheels are looking so much better and I don't think it's too bad that they are so clean and great looking, it is an older tractor and it doesn't look bad having those tires all clean and painted, maybe just paint the back ones then all the tires will match, and once there is dirt and stuff on them they will match and look just fine with the old tractor, but you did a lot of good cleaning on the tractor and there is nothing wrong with that. Thanks for a great video that I really enjoyed watching, I hope that you have a great day, stay safe and happy, sending love and hugs, bye! 🤗😍👋👍🙏💜💜💜💜
@Calmedseas Жыл бұрын
Go ahead and paint the back wheels too. That will match the front. A shoe shine is always good.....good maintenance and upkeep.....to keep the rust off. They end up with lots of muck n mud through use. Probably would be a good idea to do every year or so. It won't hurt the integrity to keep up the wheels. I love watching you work with and teach your son.

Hi Sam, I think I would take the time and paint the whole Tractor blue and paint the motor blue too, and of course, paint the rear rims that white so it will match the front rims, by doing this you would add many more years to that beautiful old Tractor not to mention how nice it would look. it would also preserve it as well. but just so you know I do also respect & appreciate the natural patina that this Tractor worked so hard to achieve...!
