Most knee replacements are performed as outpatient procedures, and precision surgery enables patients to walk within an hour of their procedure.
Dr. Clegg customizes his recovery protocols to meet the needs of each individual patient. Every patient is different so recovery rate can vary accordingly. Generally you can expect to return to work within 4-6 weeks of surgery, but Dr. Clegg encourages his patients to take their time to properly heal, and he and his staff will support their patients through the recovery process.
During recovery, Dr. Clegg encourages his patients to walk frequently to help facilitate the healing process and increase mobility, and the distance recommended will slowly increase with time. Dr. Clegg says it's not uncommon for patients 10 weeks Post-Op to be walking three to four miles a day.

*I had TKR 8 days ago (9/25/2022). I am trying to stay AHEAD of the pain with pain meds. Today I am winging it just to see how I am doing. Only 2 pain meds so far (8:30am). My biggest problem is keeping my foot straight in the air. I have come to the conclusion only way to do that is to sleep with a shoe on my foot. My PT stated it was not good to let my foot flop to the side. My MAIN issue is the "DEAD WEIGHT STIFFNESS". OMG, it is SO HARD to move and bend. I am at 70% right now. I have til day after Labor day to be at 90% range. PRAYERS for anyone going in for TKR. Be EXTREMELY careful of the "Trick Knee Affect" also. When your standing or walking and your knee just BUCKLES on you out of nowhere*

I had Maco Robotic TKR 8/5-tough 4.5 weeks-but now at 8 weeks I’m great. I owe it all to my surgeon & PT guy & my tenacity!

This doctor is talking the best scenario, if you're back to work within 4 to 5 weeks you must have a job that doesn't require much moving around, because after 4, 5 weeks most people are not back to work, most still have swelling, not good flexibility and pain, this doctor makes it sound easy, very inaccurate
