I really really want to play baseball in hs but idk if I have what it takes. I play outfeild, and Ive been told I have a strong arm. But the thing is I haven't played on a team since the 6th grade. I practice with my dad every day for 1 to 2 hour sessions, either just long throw practice, or all around practice. He's the only one I practice with. My dad believes in me, but idk if I should be worried about not currently being on a team.
@cartermozdzierz92993 жыл бұрын
Bro honestly just go for it, make sure to show case your outfielding skills if that’s what you are best at. And if you can try to hit against someone that throws fast before tryouts, so you know what to expect. Also work on speed because that’s what a lot of coaches look for.
@CarsonLee53 жыл бұрын
Dude just go for it. Give it a try and just see what happens! Because years from now... if you don’t go for it, you may look back and wish you did. If you go for it now, no matter what happens, you can look back in life knowing you gave it your best shot. Best of luck and have fun!!!

Any advice for the bp section of the tryout(left handed batter)
@CarsonLee53 жыл бұрын
Be yourself as a hitter. Don’t try and do too much. Focus on hitting hard line drives up the middle. Stay away from hitting pop ups. Coaches want to see that you have a quality swing, proper mechanics, bat speed, barrel control and can make consistent contact. Relax, be loose and have fun

Soon I am going to be trying out for my high school feeder team and I am wondering if trying out for every position (because I can play every position) might come off weird. Do you think it will leave any bad impressions?
@CarsonLee53 жыл бұрын
Not at all. Tryout at as many spots as you can. Show “the tools you have in your tool belt” - but also make sure if you are trying out for them, you can actually play them and play them good and not just doing it to do it, make sense? That’s when it will bother a coach

Hi, I’m currently in 7th grade, Im a catcher, and I’m tryna improve my blocking, because I’m pretty bad at it, i always flinch and turn away even though I know that’ll probably get me hurt. Any advice on how to stop flinching so much?
@CarsonLee53 жыл бұрын
You need to get the reps more than anything but what could help is to use tennis balls or some kind of soft squishy balls and have someone throw them to you over and over agin and block them until it becomes muscle memory and you don’t flinch out of the way
@logandraper52573 жыл бұрын
Yo I’m not a catcher but I’ve done it before and you just got to commit, and you’ll realize it’s not bad. Then you’ll start doing it more often

How many outfielders are chosen in each level? We have like 40ish kids trying out with like 14 freshmen. Probably wont be any cuts right?

I’m honestly not sure. Each school and coach is different in the way they do things so I don’t have a for sure answer for you. I’d say just give it your best effort at tryouts and keep working hard and everything will work out for you
