Happy New Year everyone! Hope to see you all out there on the course in 2024!

Did my first Sprint in 2023 in Bethel, NY at age 53. I just wanted to run it without quitting on myself or walking, so I started training months ahead. I did real well and walked away proud of my finish. Now I'm contemplating a Super for this year's event. I'm just not sure if I'm up for a 10k but I'll definitely be participating because of my experience last year. Thank you for your videos, they were a great insight to what I was getting into and helped me prepare for it

Excellent! Glad your Sprint at Bethel went well! I hope you take on the Super. We are shooting for Bethel NY Super this year as a matter of fact. It is a great spot, and if you've done the Sprint there, you'll be familiar with the terrain and be in really good shape to take on the additional distance. The signature Super obstacles add an additional challenge, but since you've done the rest, you know what to expect for 80% of the race. If you do it, we hope to see you there, so hit us up beforehand if you decide to go for it. AROO!

@@OCRKings I'm signed up and currently waiting for the map to drop. I've even convinced my 17 year old daughter to run it. Hope to see you there!

Supers are the WAY to go! Perfect distance to push you past your comfort zone and some of those obstacles are legit (if you haven't seen them yet). Favorite race distance now... some of those mountain beasts cripple me for days!
@OCRKings Жыл бұрын
Totally agree! You are spot on. 6miles/10k is our standard run distance now on the weekends. It's the perfect length. The signature obstacles at the Spartan Super are also awesome. They are what really make the Super stand out. We wish there were actually more Supers around us.

Trifecta Tribe member here. Thanks for another video gents. I learned a lot from you back in 2019-2020 getting ready for my first Spartan, which obviously got delayed until 2021. My first was a Sprint much like most people and though they are a challenge, I think I like the Super the most of the 4 kinds I have done (Beast & Stadion included). The super gives you some longer running stretches between obstacles but not so long and exhausting like a Beast. Having said that I am already signed up for 3 Trifecta Weekend events and training hard for them already. Hope to see you at one of the events this year as I will be at Fayetteville, Cincy and top off the season in West Virginia.

WOW! Three Trifecta Weekends, awesome! Good luck out there with your 3x Trifecta, keep us posted throughout the season as to how it's going. We may cross paths at some point this season, we're hoping to get out to more races this year. AROO!

Winter is tough, esp. with the holidays. Too cold, and too much food. Looking forward to putting in some miles starting this weekend.

Any advice for first timers? Wanting to try and do a trifecta weekend even though I have no experience in races just to push my limits
@OCRKings Жыл бұрын
Ok, it might be a good idea to try out a Sprint first. If you are in decent shape, you should be ok. Sprints are the shortest distance (5k/3miles) with the fewest obstacles. This race can help you gauge what to expect for the longer distances (Super and Beast). If you can run a 5k with little or no difficulty, you're gonna be fine. If not, start run training. If you can do pullups without much difficulty, you're also going to be ok. Pullups work the same muscles in almost all of the up and over obstacles and well as the go across ones (like monkey bars, etc.). Not a bad idea to work pullups into your workout routines in general. For most of your training, it's a good idea to work out in the gear you plan to run the races in too. Try out your footwear, your clothes, your hydration/snacks, and any packs you might want to use WELL in advance of your race. You may not need a pack for the shorter distances, but depending on the temperature and elevation of where you intend to do a Beast (21k/13miler), it might be a good idea to plan on wearing some sort of pack and have some hydration and/or supplementation in there. Not sure if this helps. Please hit us up if you have any more questions and we'll be glad to help.

My husband and I have never done sprint before, but our friends will be doing super. If we start training now for June I am confident we can do it. Is it feasible?
@OCRKings20 күн бұрын
Six months to train should be plenty of time to get you ready to do a Super. Where is your event, is it somewhere flat or hilly? The flatter, the easier. Train running, and definitely train obstacles if you can. If you don't have access to obstacles like ropes to climb, etc., then work pullups into your routine. Also try to run/workout in the gear you plan to wear/bring to the race. See what works and how everything feels. Hit us up if you have any specific venue or obstacle questions. Good luck, you got this!

My friend and I have never done a Spartan race EVER, not even a sprint, but we used our free race credit for a super. Both of us go to the gym 4-5x a week and strength train regularly + play a sport. Will we be alright? Both of us are extremely nervous lol... also, do you have any tips for Spartan beginners? Love your content and subscribed, thank you so much!
@OCRKings7 ай бұрын
You will both be GREAT! If you strength train and are at the gym that often, you will do fine, don't be nervous. For Spartan beginners, if you have no obstacles to train on, just work pullups into your routine. They'll work the same muscles you'll use to climb and pull yourself up or across most of the obstacles at the race. Pullups will also work grip strength. If you can get out and run, especially in the gear you intend to use/wear at the race, even better. Stick together out there on the course, take your time when you get to the obstacles, and just have a good time. If you have any specific questions, esp. about particular obstacles, hit us up ocrkings@gmail.com. AROO!

Spartan Supers are like the middle children of the franchise. Many flock to the Sprints, then save up and go big with Beasts. Supers are kind of hanging out there. They have the cooler obstacles like twister and beater. Trying to create some buzz there.
