Kory Scott the spousal interview will take place before an officer makes a decision on the spousal, if an interview is requested. Upon entry to Canada for landing purposes, typically there is no interview but an office can chose to ask certain questions. Yes you can have both a pending spousal and a pending PR application on another category however you would need to withdraw one at some stage.

Hello, if you are still married at the time of your sponsorship, you would need to demonstrate why it is impossible for you to obtain a divorce. Otherwise, your application would likely be refused.

Hi Kaniza, the interview is not always a requirement. If there is an interview, it will happen closer to the final stages of processing. Spousal sponsorships take about 12 months to process but in some cases it can be much shorter or much longer depending on backlogs and the complexity of your case.

If this is a spousal sponsorship then no you do not need those documents as they are not relevant to the file. Immigration should alreayd have a copy of your birth certificate and passport. You can bring them again if they are indicated in the interview letter.

We were not able to monitor from CIC website that beginning June, 2018, Outland Sponsorship applications shoud be sent to Sydney, Nova Scotia. abdelbasset chaabane Yes you can file for spousal sponsorship if you meet all requirements. They can apply for TRVs however the decision will depend on the officer as they will have both dual and temporary intentions. The TRVs need to be completed properly and with strong supporting documents and explanation.

Ali R it’s very normal and it can take a few months to get a confirmation letter due to backlogs and the pandemic. If IRCC determines that your docs have expired, they will simply ask for new ones.

In May 2020, we got married ( after 2 months of his PR ). Then we informed ICCRC about our marriage through webform, and they sent a document checklist like education, work, passport etc. Of me. We provided the docs in October 2020, and since then we were waiting for their response. Then, on 30th August 2022 ( after almost 2 years ), we received biometric request 4 me. I gave biometric on 5th September 2022. Now, on 12th September, my husband received an interview letter from Delhi embassy of Canada. I want to ask that whether, according to you, this is regarding the genuineness of marriage, or they will ask for my husband's current employment, as he left the job in 2020 on the basis of which I got AINP call? What sought of preperation do we need for this interview? And majorly they will ask questions from my husband or me? Do they take our interview together or one by one? In some cases, the officer may request the sponsor for the interview as well, if the sponsor is living in the same city at the time. Sometimes officers may call the sponsor over the phone to ask questions but this is rare.

I am sorry to hear about this situation. Typically IRCC correspondence is sent out by email or mail. Did you check your spam folder? Did IRCC have your most updated email address and mailing address on file? If you did not receive it, you need to advise them in writing that you did not which you have done. You should submit an email and a webform to notify them that this might be their mistake. Hopefully they will reschedule the interview.

Hello Merlin. If it is indicated that your file is in queue to have an interview scheduled, it will happen closer to the final stages of processing. Spousal sponsorships take about 12 months to process but in some cases it can be much shorter or much longer depending on backlogs and the complexity of your case. Especially since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, processing time are longer. Depending on the final decision you will receive after your interview the last step would be with respect to the Visa stamp and COPR if your file is approved.

If you the applicant are outside of Canada, you have to apply for an overseas spousal sponsorship which can take about 1 year. To apply for an inland sponsorship, you have to be physically in Canada and that can take about 1-2 years.

This way you are demonstrating to the officer that your relationship continues and you still have a strong and genuine relationship. I also recommend you make a copy for yourself of all the documents you provide to the office, in case of a refusal, you have a copy for a possible appeal.

Hi Margo, as long as both of you are above the age of consent and were when you were married it will not technically have any impact on your application. However, if the difference in your ages is very significant it may be useful for the officer if you contextualize the relationship so that he understands it better, and of course including strong supporting documents so that he understands it is genuine.

If it an overseas spousal and not an inland, you will need to submit a webform and request that the entire application be returned to you so that you can file it at the proper location as IRCC will not do internal transfers. The issue is that it may takes months before they open your envelop as it’s most likely in a mailroom in queue. We can look into filing a new application perhaps and withdrawing the pending one so that you don’t lose so much time.

Neha Sharma it can take a few days to a few weeks to receive the final decision. If it’s a refusal, depending on how the application was prepared, you can consider re-applying with stronger documents or filing an appeal.

Yes he can sponsor again however the application must contain detailed explanations with respect to the breakdown of the first relationship.

Hi Maam, I have applied for my spouse sponsorship application. My wife is Canadian PR holder. We have got re-married recently. I am an Indian citizen obtained divorce from UK Court since my ex-wife is an UK settled person and my ex relationship lasted for 4years and I have got remarried in 2months at India after getting the divorce from UK Court. I have submitted the divorced documents along with the application to CIC. Will be there a chance for interview or will it is straightforward application without interview.

Hello madam, my wife is sponsoring me, I am from Colombia and she is a Permanent Resident in Canada, we are a same-sex couple. My question is, two months ago they sent us an email requesting some documents, including the CSQ, I sent everything except the CSQ because my wife was waiting for her quotation notice but a month ago the application was sent to Quebec, But Canada has not contacted me for medical exams, it is already a month and a half of silence from them and that scares me ... I do not know if the Midi liaises with them to send the Csq when it is ready, Could you help me clarify this question? why don't they send us anything? Thank you:)

This is normal processing time. The entire spousal process can take about 1 year. Once you have the CSQ submit it to IRCC or send a webform to advise that you are currently waiting for the CSQ.
